I see many people writing comments about how sad and depressed they are about the situation about the Rockets, so lets vent on here. My perspective: 1. This is by far the most depressing off-season that we as Rockets fans have gone thru in years Why? 1. Huge deal about getting Dwight and Williams= Fail 2. Moving into top ten in draft= fail 3. Signing Dragic= Most likely fail 4. Making Lee a FA= WHY??? 5. Lin= Most likely fail 6. Getting a legit center= Ending up with Asik The Rockets did not want to rebuild, but because the organization failed tremendously this offseason we are forced to rebuild with a bunch of end of the lottery picks and ......................... 7 6'8 guys. As much as I love Morey, the Rockets need a new staff starting with a new GM. I hope this somehow jinxes things, but I guess we got to stay positive.
We like our roster going forward and we think we can make the playoffs and a superstar is just going to magically appear after we trade our 30 Power Forwards.
This off-season is not over, even if we don't get a star and unload the vets I'm lovin it. Roster full with good prospects and we will get a high pick next season. People have to realize that signing one guy like Smith would've been the same mediocrity-mill all over again. Signing Deron and Dwight was a pipe dream, I think that's the biggest problem and lead to disappointment here, based on false hopes. Don't look at next season alone, think about the future.
As I stated in another thread, although it bears repeating here: I say we stockpile two notched timbers, a posthole digger and some nails at the hill near downtown in Memorial Park. If Morey hasn't rebuilt the team with balance and two decent centers by the start of the season, then let's crucify. I'll bring the appropriate Jesus Christ Superstar! soundtrack.
Don't know why everyone got excited about getting Dwight. Moving into the top 10 WOULD have happened. It's not our fault that two teams passed on Robinson.
Don't know why you bought into the hype, D-Will/Howard coming to Houston was very very very very very very very slim to none. Moving into the top ten, Morey says this every year and it never happens. You can't buy into the hype. Morey doesn't finish big moves, people will always make excuses for him on this board to. Losing Dragic and Lee sucks bad. We took a big L here. Yes, we are overpaying for Asik but chances are he'll get shipped out next year or at the deadline if he doesn't produce at the rate we need him to. Happens every year. People need to quit acting like Jeremy Lin is a random bum off the street. He's a very smart and humble kid who wants to learn more about the game. He's had big games and will put asses in the Toyota center. Yes, he's very turnover prone. Most young PG's are, give him some more time to gain chemistry with his teammates and I promise you they will cut down.
For the last 3 years, the Rockets have refused to rebuild and as everyone knows we are always stuck in that middle stage. Its great that the guys upstairs believe we should remain competitive, but it has definitely made things worse. We could of had 3 top 10 picks already, and would of been a team on the rise with clear direction. The team is in a very odd situation right now, and it gives me a headache hearing about how other teams are landing everyone else and we are getting snubbed each time.
I'm tired of hearing about flexibility to make moves. What good is flexibility when the odds of finding a star outside of the draft is like the odds of winning the lottery? Play the youngsters please and get a high draft pick.
