Biggest game in a LONG time. Maybe in franchise history? This will tell us if we are truly ready for prime time or not.
I would love to see more of those TE screens/ Wr screens/ RB screens to keep the Vikings D- line off balance.
Vikings play indoors, right? So weather won't be an issue? We've had a month of home games in wonderful weather, so I just wondered if that might possibly effect our play.
It's not going to be an easy game. The Vikings are coming off their bye. Most teams tend to win the game after their bye, especially when they play at home. With that said, I'm hoping the Texans will carry the momentum built up from the last three games and pull out a victory. Texans 27 Vikings 24 Btw, Dick Enberg and Randy Cross will call the game for CBS.
Pumped for this game. We expected wins the last few weeks. This one, the Texans have to earn and I think they can. Texans 24 Vikings 16
big game, I think they can win it. Can't make mistakes though. Winning this could give them a lot of momentum and confidence.
it would be a huge confidence boost for this young team to go on the road an win. If the Texans start believing they will be dangerous, and will start to live up to the hype they had before the season. They have the players to make some noise. Lets just hope Travis Johnson enjoyed his dance soooo much hell feel like doing it every sunday If we can stop the run and make them one dimensional we have a good chance of beating them. Their QB is not a mobile one. Berrian, like calvin johnson, will prob get a big play on us but then again whose going to stop number 80
i think last year's first colt game was/is the biggest in franchise history; you're 2-0, at home, facing not only your long-time nemesis but the divsion champ the past 71 years - a chance to make a definitive statement. that was a huge, Huge, HUGE game. this is certainly a big one; they need it. get to 4-4 and all is forgiven - the fans will be back full-force. not to mention, the afc has fallen back to the texans - the playoffs are not, right now, unrealistic. and there's a chance, given the caliber of everyone's opponent this weekend (us-vikings; jags-bengals or lions, one of 'em; colts-patriots), that the indianpolis colts will be in sole possession of last place come monday morning. wow.
man, the texans have had a buzzsaw of an opening schedule. these past two weeks have been gifts but prior to, wow - just a gauntlet: three straight road games against playoff teams last year to open the season, no home game for a month, you catch the dolphins streaking, and now you get a mediocre, beatable viking team... on the backend of its bye. they lucked out getting the ravens pushed back; i think they're infinitely more beatable now than they would have been week 2. hopefully, we'll see more of it even out as we move along; it would sure help. especially with no bye left.
The passing offense is on a roll. That will continue against a pass defense that gives up 220 yards/game. Our running game might not - Minnesota has the 2nd best rush defense in the league. The defense is going to be the key to the game. That DL has to pressure the QB like it did against Cincy and Detroit. Unfortunately, they are going against one of the top OLs in the league. If there is no pressure on the QB, Frerotte is going to look like Tom Brady on Sunday.
I have a good feeling.. tough game though. I DON't think Berrian burns us deep, surprisingly. I do think AP will have a solid day (bold prediction, I know...but he hasn't been too consistent this year) Texans prove they are legit.. win 27-17 Mario might take Frerotte out the game and force TaRvaris in! Ric, I think the development of Flacco has made the Ravens a better team now than they were in week 2...though the defense has fallen off a bit.
I'm a little concerned about how the whole bye situation worked out. I have a feeling that they're going to continue this run...only to get worn out come week 14 or 15. Hope I'm wrong... As I said, I do think this run continues. They are now #4 in the NFL in offense. If Slaton/Green can help control the ball and the Schaub/AJ combo continues it's magic, this should be a win. Other than Peterson, there is nothing in the Vikings offense that is the least bit scary. Texans 28 Vikings 17
harder to gameplan a rookie in week 2 than it is week 9. his tendencies have been revealed, his weaknesses exposed... it's also an older team - not an OLD team, but older - and, like the texans, they'll be playing their 7th straight game w/o a bye. that's going to be to our advantage, i think. plus, the texans are a better team. in week 2, i think baltimore would have walked into reliant and really beat us up; now, not so sure.
Yeah, plus the rescheduling due to Ike helped Dunta to get back for an extra game this year. In some ways, very few ways, but in some ways Ike helped us.
While I think a win is possible, I don't think it's especially likely. What I do like about our chances: I'd rather face a stiff run defense/avg pass defense than the other way around. I'd rather face a good run game/weak pass attack than the other way around. If we can extend their special teams woes (our ST play has been excellent), that can really give us a handicap. IMO, the keys to the game: -We should do well against AP up the gut; we need our OLBs to be all over stretch plays. Contain the flats. Diles is really gaining my trust, but Ryans isn't full speed and he can't cover sideline to sideline like we're used to. -If the run isn't there, it isn't there. Sounds simple enough. Let's keep riding the hot hand with our passing game, and distribute around the field (Daniels and Walter). Evan
It's going to be a tough and close game. I see us pulling out with a last second FG from Kris Brown. I see Owen Daniels being more productive this week than last week. Our passing should be OK as long as we stop the 2 Williams. I see the score being 30-28. Dunta will get his second interception of the season. Mario Williams will have 2 sacks. Now is that being too imaginative and asking for too much?
