Houston trades Glen Rice, a first-round pick and additional draft consideration to Utah for John Amaechi, a 2004 second-round pick and a conditional second-round pick.

This was rigtht off the link provided in the first post.

    Allow me to say...WTF!!!

If this is true then and there is nothing else coming our way then Screw CD and Les. I am so damn pissed off right now I don't know what to say.

I mean come on a 1st round pick and Rice for John Amaechi!!!! To hell with John Amaechi and CD to!

Minn just traded Terrell Brandon for the Big Dog and we are suppose to just except Rice for freaking John Amaechi!

Trading Rice is almost exactly the same as trading Brandon except we get absolutely nothing back and have to give up a damn 1st round pick in the proccess!

WTF is right. this better not be it. There goes the only veteran leadership we had. What does Amaechi's contract look like? I guess this leaves more room for snackbar to get some pt...ahhhhhhhhh this blows.

Stunned. I guess it's safe to say that the people ( ahem...and you, too Gater, you weree with me on this;) ) who said we should have let Shandon Anderson walk were pretty much proven right, several millions and draft picks later...A terrible end to a terrible move in the first place.

I thought the expiring contract of Rice was worth much more than a John Amaechi. And they threw in a first round pick too. I want to cry now.

there definitley is something coming, becuase we are already weak at the 3 spot, we cant just give away Rice. The rockets must be planning something.

This is obviously a move to keep Houston
    '
    1. out of the luxery tax

    2. and not having to pay a first round pick

Nothing in this deal is geared towards making the Rockets a better team.

    I hate CD and Les!

It's all about money. Rockets save a lot while jeopardize their playoff ticket.

Wow. We get rid of one of our more consistent role players for a proven useless center. Someone explain what we need another center for? Yao and Cato do the job pretty admirably in my opinion... Also, is there any reason why we've been shipping off our good small forwards? Sorry, but Adrian Griffin and Boki just aren't going to cut it. We could have Piatkowski at SF, which leaves not much for SG behind Cat.

    Useless.

Apparently, Pike, Griffen and Boki will play the SF position.
It might be a salary dump move; it might also signal that Cato will be traded since this guy from Utah could play the backup center position.

This has to be part of a grand scheme to pull off another move because no human being could be stupid enough to trade Rice and a 1st round pick to Utah for any of their players not named Matt or Andrei!

I will wait to pass judgement until I see if any other deals are out the horizon.

I'm still stumped as to why the hell we are sending them Rice, and most importantly, another 1st ROUND PICK for freakin' Amaechi and some 2nd rounders. We keep sending away our 1st round picks. What the **** is goin' on CD?!?!?!   Hopefully it's time for that SPLASH we've been patiently awaiting.
