I dunno...the Astros make baseball look very, very hard right now. I can't see the forest for the trees. You might as well roll some dice.
Hopefully the Rangers series is rock bottom for this early part of the season. We have a west coast swing coming which is when the team caught fire last season...we'll need the same thing to happen again. Also, are we the only team in MLB that has opened the season against 3 teams that made the playoffs last year in the first 2-3 weeks (I'm including the Yankees as playoff team)? Not making excuses, but the teams we've played so far are pretty good.Yanks are improved and healthy, Detroit has a nasty lineup, KC is KC, and the Rangers hitters looked like the 27 Yankees this series. Outside of Milwaukee, every team we've played is pretty good...it just happened that our pitchers forgot to show up in MIL. As for this series, hopefully we sandwich Bucholz's no hitter with a couple of W's.
I'm not clear if it is the competition is better than us or the Astros are just beating themselves currently. After that base running fiasco when we were playing against Hamels, I would say the Astros are their own worst enemy right now in all facets. All I know is when pitching and batting are struggling at the same time...you are going to lose games in droves. And, this is reminiscent of all the bad teams we had before last season where they could do neither well or well with any consistency. Take a page from the Rockets, have a players meeting before its too late.
While I think our team has a higher ceiling than most of the teams we have played, we are playing closer to our floor than they have been. Clearly, we are underachieving (as a team) so far this season.
Friendly Tip Jar Bet? I say Astros win series you say Boston wins Whoever loses pays $20 to tip jar??
Hoping along with you. Right now, we've played 10% of the games, and while it's still early in the season, we're on track for 50 wins. But, on the bright side, the Rangers started out 7-15 last year and won the division (but the As started out almost as bad as us and finished 20 games back).
Anyone know what this McCullers-Colby thing is about? https://twitter.com/LMcCullers43/status/723561593884172288
A verified Rasmus twitter account popped up around a week ago, McCullers tweeted he asked Rasmus and he said it wasn't his, account becomes unverified and the video explains from there
Thanks. Makes sense. On first watch it seemed like the Rasmus account might have tweeted out something bad about Lance. Glad to hear that is not the case.
