    I'll start.

Most of these I'd like for 10 day contracts to see what they've got.

Bobby Jones-rumors started about us signing him. Any updates or knowledge of his game?

Brent Barry-pretty obvious. He's a great shooter and our offense thrives when we hit our 3's. I think he'll resign with the Spurs, unfortunately. They probably had a wink-wink in place before they traded him. Of course we'd sign him for the rest of the season.

Justin Williams-turns on 24 this year. A PF/C who is a good rebounder. Groomed to be a backup for Yao? A great shotblocker in college. Can he play backup C? Don't know much about his game.

    Please continue...

    Mike Harris deserves some consideration.

I definitely wouldn't mind a minimum one-year deal on Justin Williams. He wouldn't play at all this year, but maybe he could be a future backup center.

    Jamaal Magloire was released.

Good option to back up Yao? Not a great offensive player but rebounds, defends and blocks shots. Kinda like a younger Yao.

Calderon wouldn't be too bad behind Rafer. Will we even have the money to sign Magette or Jamison? Also what is your reasoning behind Grant Hill?

Your realistic list doesn't look too promising for us.

Justin Williams is a definite possibility. He's kind of like a bigger more athletic Chuck Hayes, although he doesn't have the smarts of Chuck.

    Good thread!

The Rockets need veterans, not potentials, to make a run in playoffs.

The Rockets need a big 2/3 and a big 4/5.
PJ Brown, Brent Barry are good candidates.

Who's that Bobby Jones dude? Dont have too much impression on him. Is Jones with the Rockets yet?

    ditto that.

I like the energy Mike brought in the preseason. I hope the Rockets will give him a chance to show what he can do in the NBA. If we cannot get Brent to join us, Mike is my second choice.

oh, misunderstood, when I read "in FA" I thought it meant in free agency, basically during the off season. My bad.

    Yaozer,
My Realistic does not mean all of them, just go after those players and see if we can get one. They fill potential needs and maybe one will come cheap.

    ----

    For right now:

Bobby Jones will most likely be signed. He is supposed to be a good lock down defender. He shot well in college, if he extended it to NBA 3-pt line with Memphis or after being cut, he will be huge.

Personally, Barry will go to the Spurs.

Harris I doubt would come back now. Isn't he playing in Europe. Maybe this off season, but not now.

Justin Williams did play well in Sac, but he seems mainly like a larger version of Landry. Not that this is bad. I just would rather get a more sound defensive center in there that can clog space and get some blocks.

This is the reason why we should at least look at Magloire, as I have said in the other thread, especially if we do not think Bobby Jones will make a large contribution.

It is a fact that the Rockets are going after Brent Barry.

It is also a fact that, in the meantime, the team has extended a 10-day contract to Bobby Jones.

Bobby Jones is an athletic wing defender (6'7") who can also score. I am actually surprised that the Grizzlies didn't sign him for the remainder of the season. Jones almost had a triple-double in one game for them. He basically fills the type of role that Kirk Snyder would have in Bonzi's absence. If Barry decides not to sign with Houston, I could see Jones getting spot minutes here and there against taller SGs.

I just don't see the Rockets going after anyone else but Barry at this point as an addition to the regular rotation. We'll see if anyone else of note gets waived in the next few days, though.

He is worth a look. He has a nice, soft touch around the basket and works hard.
Bobby Jones is also worth going after. He is a hustle guy,who can play some defense.

Yeah, Ricky Davis is a real winner. Great track record, there.

I kind of like the Rockets' approach of bringing in players who play hard and/or have experience playing on very good teams. No thanks on Ricky Davis.
