As always, no PBP in the thread. If you need that try one of the game cast sites. Keep discussion to this series. They were 57-105 last year, and we are on a pace for 60-102 this year. So we are just a year behind them right?
WLW? who the fock knows...but I do know that I could save money on my car insurance by switching to Geico...
Well, I get to go to tomorrow's game. That ends about a 9 year drought for me in terms of seeing an Astros game at the park.
God the Astros are terrible. The most frustrating thing about it is how long we've had the same criticisms about the farm system. It feels like our current predicament is the hangover result of years of reloading. Shouldn't we accidentally have drafted an exciting prospect by now?
Well they did have former #1 pick Castro, although not sure how "exciting" he is and he broke something(I forget) and is out for the season. And of course Jordan Lyles, who you have probably seen recently. Other than that....I'm unsure.
CJ has the worst walk-to-strikeout ratio in all of baseball among qualified hitters. His gap over the next worst is enormous. To top it off, he isn't slugging the ball worth a lick. Bourn has a higher SLG% than him.
Going to need another base runner if Pence is going to get another chance to extend his hitting streak.
I almost care more about Pence's hit streak than winning this game. Let's tie it here but not take the lead. Or take the lead then let Lyon pitch the top of the 9th... heh.
Oh well, he hit 3 balls to the warning track. That's the luck of baseball. Pirates > Astros Actually... 29 teams > Astros
Poor Norris 7IP, 1ER, 9Ks and the Stros can't get a single run off of the freaking Pirates. Please, please, someone tell me there is a once a generation talent for the 2012 draft?
So far the '12 draft looks like it will be much weaker than the one we just wrapped up. A lot can change in amateur baseball over the course of a year, obviously.
[rquoter]• Bud Norris just became the first Astros pitcher in almost five years to take a no-hitter into the seventh inning. So here's the irony in that: If they put every player on their team on the market, they might have as much interest in him as anyone else on the roster -- but as a reliever. "I'd take him in a second as a bullpen guy," one exec said. "This guy could be a hell of an eighth- or ninth-inning weapon because he punches people out. But there's no reason they should even think about trading a guy like that."[/rquoter] http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&page=rumblings110610 He keeps pitching like this, and people will want him as a starter.
