Remember, no PBP in these threads and keep the chatter on topic (if it is about something other than this series, talk about it in another thread). 7-6 Virgil Vasquez, RHP (1-1, 3.75) vs. Mike Hampton, LHP (4-5, 4.44) 7:05 on FSN 7-7 Paul Maholm, LHP (5-4, 4.69) vs. Brian Moehler, RHP (5-4, 5.64) 7:05 on FSN 7-8 Charlie Morton, RHP (1-1, 2.65) vs. Wandy Rodriguez, LHP (7-6, 3.21) 1:05 on FSN
I'm calling sweep for the Pirates. This next week or so will shape the rest of our season. I havwe a bad feeling for some reason
Sweep. Two shutouts for Astros pitchers. Maybe Hampton, maybe Moehler, probably Wandy. WWW. 'Stros surge before the break.
LWW Game 1: L - Only a loss because I'm going to it. They are 1-12 when I attend games. I apologize in advance. Game 2: W - Maholm is overrated, and Moehler has been solid. Game 3: W - Always pickin' Wandy @ home unless it's against someone like Santana, Lincecum, or Greinke.
Mike Hampton has done his best impersonation of CC Sabathia once he got traded to the Brewers last year -- getting all his W's against the Pirates.
Overrated? Overrated by whom? Who, outside of the city of Pittsburgh and the NL Central, even knows who this guy is? Don't let the fact that you guys can never beat him cloud your judgment.
Pirates and Nats in the final homestand before the break. Absolutely no reason to drop any of these series.
5-2 in these last 7 should be quite do-able and gets us over .500 going into the break...a much better mark than many of us predicted where they'd be at this point or at any point this season.
Don't forget it is actually 8 because it is a 5-Game series with the Nats due to the completion of the extra innings game. Time to make some hay ... The schedule gets tough after the break so we are going to need some real momentum these last 8. It's make or break time for the season IMO.
Well. The Reds are getting destroyed... highly likely that result won't change for the next 8 innings.
Johnny Cueto just got eaten alive... in Jason Jennings fashion. 0.2 IP, 5 H, 3 BB, 9 ER, 2 HR on 49 pitches Yes, I know this isn't Astros related. It just shows that even the pitcher with the 4th best ERA in the NL coming into today can get destroyed like Paulino did the other day. Edit: tellit, you were already on top of it. I had to update his line after Herrera gave up the homer to Utley so I didn't see your post.
