Anyone else watching? I think this year is the year that the Senior Circuit finally gets the monkey off its back. Willie Mays makes it all worthwhile.

For everyone who thinks Barry is a jerk, I thought it was pretty classy of him to walk with Mays.

btw, I don't think it was a good idea to throw those balls in the stands.

Classy? Why wouldn't Bonds walk with Mays? Mays is Bonds' godfather and idol.

So... how many times have they done the starting lineup?

These things are fun and all but there are waaay too many formalities involved.

Barry gets bashed for everything he does. He may have just stepped aside to let this be Mays moment. When Mays looked bewildered, Barry and Junior Griffey stepped in.

    i'm enjoying the game generally.

It's cool to see Griffey, Bonds, Pudge, etc. playing injury-free and playing generally well...while also seeing the up-and-comers like Reyes, Wright, Utley, Haren (talkin about guys who still seem "young" in my mind, but have reached their prime).

Plus you have other guys all over the rest of the map of course. But I like that contrast. Obviously you kinda have that every year... but man, Griffey and Bonds especially, seems like such a throwback since they haven't been super healthy of late.

    Game is making me sleep...

On a side note, is there a bigger "What If?" in baseball history than Jr.?

    Carlos Hernandez.... and Vassilis Spanoulis.

In all seriousness, though, Griffey simply got older and started having the type of injuries that plague older players (hamstrings, pulled muscles). It wasn't as if he suffered some major strokes of bad luck/fluke injuries.

Its also not as if he was like JD Drew... Griffey is a sure-fire HOFer who has accomplished a great deal in his career (and is still productive in his twilight). Drew, on the other hand, has all the tools that Griffey has... and yet he's never played in an all-star game (and yet gets paid close to 15 million dollars a year... a raise from his previous 11 million dollars a year).

Where has Paula Cole been for the last 12 years? Is this the best Fox could get?

Also... was the keyboard really necessary (what caused all the delay)? She isn't recording a single out there... just sing the song.

That rendition of "God Bless America" was a little brutal, especially the beginning. It took her a while to find the key. But I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume her monitor wasn't quite right.

It's official, Hunter Pence should be there instead of Soriano.

Billy Wagner never changes. Can pitch like no one's business, but grooves pitches inexplicably.
