Remember, no PBP in these threads and keep the chatter on topic (if it is about something other than this series, talk about it in another thread). 4-11 Ricky Nolasco, RHP (0-0, 0.00) vs. Roy Oswalt, RHP (0-2, 6.00) 7:05 on FSN 4-12 Andrew Miller, LHP (0-1, 12.91) vs. Brandon Backe, RHP (0-1, 3.27) 6:05 on FSN 4-13 Burke Badenhop, RHP (0-0, 0.00) vs. Wandy Rodriguez, LHP (0-0, 2.92) 1:05 on MY20 These Sunday My20 games are going to piss me off. I can't get the channel and I love Sunday afternoon baseball. Looks like I get to become a fan of another team on Sunday afternoons.
Do you have Time Warner? If so, the games on My20 come on Channel 15. And they're not announced in the channel guide.
WWW Oswalt is Oswalt. Backe continues to pitch well and finally gets something to show for it. Wandy also continues to pitch well. Hopefully, the offense comes alive a bit and the pen can hold things down better. Though, I am worried about the whole "Astros facing guys they've never faced before" thing. That has been an issue as long as I can remember being a fan. It's some kind of club curse. We've seen Nolasco once (3 IP in relief last season) and never seen Miller or Badenhop before. As a matter of fact, I believe this is Badenhop's major league debut.
I think we WWW. I truly believe this is the series we need to turn things around... I'll be in town this weekend and want to take the kids to a game...Does anyone know of any promotions or codes to use to get tickets on-line? Go Stros!!!
I don't have TW. I live towards Sour Lake and I am stuck with their crappy cable company. I will be moving to satellite in May but that probably still won't help me.
Anyone know if Suddenlink in Bryan College Station is picking up the my20 games? In the past they picked up the ch51 games......I can't find the my20 ones....and they are starting to piss me off.
I have absolutely nothing to back this up, but I would guess that this isn't really the case (not much more or less than any other team), but just seems so. They've definitely been bamboozled by quite a few newbies, but they've dropped bombs on many newbies as well (and a lot of the newbies have been pretty good against a lot of people - like Noah Lowry & Anibal Sanchez, off the top of my head). The former has somehow stuck in Strosfan collective consciousness as some sort of rule. Would be interesting to see some data on this.
likely started in '84 with gooden. we tend to remember the bad; anecdotally, it seems to have happened numerous times - and likely has - but i'd venture we've probably tagged just as many newbies, they just don't stand-out.
Yep. '98 against Kerry Wood, as referenced earlier, was pretty brutal. Some Pirates rookie as well a couple years later, but I don't think he ended up being all that special.
I was sitting pissed in Austin until I found my20 way the hell up on channel 77. So I guess even when they play gimpy Ranger games on FSN, I'll still have a shot at catching games! Huzzah! This year has been more fun to watch offensively so far. Even if our BAs look subpar right now, its fun getting to know new players. Bourn keeps things interesting when our pitchers are giving up base hits like there's no tomorrow.
that wasn't wood's debut, though. first complete game and shutout, sure - but he had made 5-6 starts prior.
How much longer do you think Cooper goes with Pence? I love Pence, but how long do you stay with a guy before you replace him with Cruz? I'm hoping Pence breaks out this weekeend against subpar pitching.
I don't think we are anywhere near that point. Among others, the AB where he was called out looking against the Cards showed me that he is adjusting. Drop him in the order and give him some time to work on it. The only point where I would sit him would be if it looks like he's in a mental funk and stopped working on fixing his problems. Maybe in a couple of weeks you give him a day off or something if he is still struggling, but nothing more than that at this point IMO. If he is still hitting .185 after around something like 250 AB's, then maybe you look for a change.
Worst case scenario is that he is dropped to the 6th spot in the order. No chance in hell that he loses his job to Cheito.
Check back around the end of May. That's generally a good answer to any "how long..." questions posed in April.
Most dominant pitching performance in MLB history in my book. Nobody would have touched him that day.
maybe it's my homertism, but scott's no-hitter, near no-hitter in his next start and then his two playoff starts - scuff or no - were all otherwordly. i can still see that pitch of his darting like a whiffle ball and making some very good line-ups just look out-and-out foolish.
