Shoot if we have enough rainouts, maybe Roy can keep pitching every 3rd game :)

Do your parents live in Houston? I hooked up a Slingbox over spring break. Greatest invention ever.

    KNWS sucks though.

With Roy going on short rest after getting shelled? Hmmmm. I'm not saying he'll lose (hell, he won after sucking in Philly), but I wouldn't expect him to be his 100% dominant self either.

I agree. My slingbox worked beautifully, but then my parents cable company switched to all digital and the slingbox doesn't tune any digital channels :(

Why is Roy pitching on short rest so early in the season? Just let Sampson go at it. Did he not throw a lot of pitches on Fri?

Garner is giving Sampson an extra day to help his calf heal that he originally injured during his Cubs start.

My question is, why not let whoever is going to replace Jennings for the next few starts take that start instead? It's assumed to be Moehler and he hasn't pitched in a week. He's rested. I'm sure it's to try to limit the # of games Moehler has to start. But if you Pitch him tonight, then Roy gets normal rest and Sampson gets ANOTHER day to make sure his calf is good before he goes.

Looks like Albers will start on Friday. He had his start moved today in RR and only threw 50 pitches. He had struggled so far this year so this is a little surprising. Former Longhorn lefthander Stephen Randolph on the other hand has dominated throwing 8.2 scoreless innings while striking out 15 batters and only walking one. I guess that is not good enough.

I suspect it has more to do with future matchups. Perhaps a week or two down the road, the Astros are presumably better off if they go with the current plan:

    Rodriguez - Oswalt - Sampson - Williams - Unknown

    Rather than:

Rodriguez - Unknown - Oswalt - Williams - Sampson (assuming they keep Williams on his normal schedule)

When was the last time Randolph started a game? He has been used exclusively in relief this year. Perhaps his arm strength isn't currently reliable enough to last 5-6 innings.

Thats true but Randolph has been a starter his whole career including this winter in Venezuela. They could just put Brian Moehler in the rotation and have Randolph in the pen. I think the reason Albers will come rather than Randolph is because the Astros see this as a temporary situation and expect Jennings back in 15 days. When Jennings comes back, if Randolph is called up and you want to send him down, he has to clear waivers while Albers doesn't. I don't know why Moehler is on the roster. He has pitched in one game in two weeks. I don't expect more than 4 or 5 innings from Albers.
