Dude, you're not a peer. You would need above a room temperature I.Q. to be a peer. Perhaps you mean a fellow member.

Do you feel better insulting people on the internet? Witty? Is there a sense of purpose you lack? There are several of you who continuously come out with the grade school insults and a couple who actually think they are superior. I don't know the first thing about your intelligence level but you have some emotional issues going on that gives me the idea you are a unhappy person.

I would like to skip past the hyperbole and partisanship. In a previous life, I was involved in a startup in the Appalachians that involved helping people get rural broadband access to underserved markets. We partnered with local utilities to help expand their mission, which was directly attributed from taking tens of millions of dollars from government grants to expand rural broadband access. I learned a lot. I learned how difficult it was to get them service in the first place. I learned many of these people were unwilling to spend an extra penny for better service. I also learned about the massive amounts of waste and misallocations of these funds. I ultimately came to the conclusion that if a person wants to seclude themselves from society and live very rural areas, it isn't society's responsibility to provide them with lifes cutting edge tech. This isn't directed at all rural people, but a good many choose this life. This is also where I became fully disconnected with pure right ideology, and to an extent, why I don't embrace being called a libertarian. I am not anti-gov or super small government. I am a huge fan of efficient and intelligent governance, which simply doesn't exist.

Now just a year ago, as we have discussed in this thread, our current government apparatus and in its infinite wisdom, denied Starlink a 1B grant to provide services to underserved markets. Incredibly stupid and only highlights the gross incompetence that goes on in this current government cycle. The government would pay $300-$600 per hookup( per terminal). It cost 10's to 100k's to run fiber to many of these places. A 20k-50k quote was extremely common. Im sure the math is quite obvious. However speaking in good faith, this really doesn't mean much in the current situation outside of the governments lack luster response to solve any real problems.

Back to the subject at hand, my understanding is they had two terminals operational for public use on Sunday. And likely several other. But if a handful of services available for people who are stuck up on the hills and can't even get the service is considered a win for government emergency response, then I shouldn't say much to your ultra low bar of expectations....because thats about all one should expect.

What should happen is that FEMA should have hundreds, if not thousands of these terminals available for immediate disaster response.

Fortunately the private sector has a solution (again starlink) for this problem since our government has a response time that matches our current president and the foresight of our current vice president. Direct-to-cell will be available soon enough and anyone with a capable cell phone will be able to communicate directly with the starlink constellation. True innovation that our current government continues to stifle.

I'm just trying to figure out why the $1B investment is necessary if the service is already available.

That is a fair enough question. So it also sounds like you feel we should do away with all rural broadband subsidies now that Starlink is an option.

If viable, probably. I don't know enough about it. I looked at getting it when it first came out, but it was way too expensive for what it could deliver. But certainly running broadband cable to remote locations doesn't make sense most of the time. While Gigabit level service is more future proof, I don't have a concept of how much Starlink can improve via things as simple as software updates.

My biggest concerns over Starlink as opposed to broadband cable, are security and competition. They could be concerns that already have answers. And of course competition is already a concern with existing cable providers.

    Yeah - pretty crappy huh?

She miscarried, and they ended their affair and that was like 15 years ago.

Still, I don't think that Doug should be front and center for being a great man or husband.

He isn't as big of a piece of **** as raw dog Trump - but we can find better male role models.

Nick Sortor is good friends with Steve Bannon -

He was fired from covering WWE wrestling after The Rock called him a toxic liar.

Sortor for a living now goes into disaster areas, uses up the resources intended for people in the disaster areas and then blames the Democrats for not doing more in the natural disasters - and then gets paid for it from right wing media sites.

He was nearly run out of Maui by disaster survivors on live television a few years ago.

    She is an embarrassment,

    Not Smart
    No accomplishments
Will not even show the American people enough respect to answer questions from reporters

The fact the democrats rigged the primary to keep RFK Jr out just to dump Biden and install her without the primary voters having their voices heard should scare everyone

She is a lawyer - that also founded a venture capitalist company - then was elected Treasurer or Rhode Island..... then was elected Governor of Rhode Island....

She was offered the cabinet position of Health and Human Services Secretary but turned it down. Later she was offered Secretary of Commerce, which she accepted.

She also is pro-business and is viewed overall as moderate and has relationships with a lot of Republicans in government.

I don't know her - but she is clearly qualified and likely quite competent at her job.

The "not smart" person vivisected your brain dead ****-up of a 79-year old pile of sh-t LIVE ON AIR in front of the entire world a few weeks ago with the most glaringly obvious traps imaginable - and laughed in his dumb **** face while he did it.

And now he's afraid to even entertain the idea of doing it again. Because we all know - all that would be left would be his Depends.

Great stuff. LOL, I am actually chortling to myself remembering it. Tee hee, silly cucks think ladies not smart debate rigged heeheehee.

It seems Club MAGA has decided to run on Harris being a combination of a stupid woman - but also a brilliant covert Marxist.

There has to be more out there for them to attack her on after nearly two months - they are recycling things now.

I guess the w**** and DEI candidate didn't ring true enough.

Rings hollow considering she refused to agree to more debates back in August and is now begging Trump through ads to debate again. A shame.

The last debate people will see before election day is Vance destroying Walz later today.
