Hey guys. I know I have been talking about this performance in several threads but the event is creaping up and I want to keep it in your heads. It is Saturday night at Ragin' Cajun Westheimer and Gessner. we are going on a little after 8 and this is not your mom and dad'd Pulltab. If you are bringing kids I would reccomend an Exodus at about 9 as some of the later songs in the set have, um, profanity or are adult natured. A partial list of attendees include MAtt Bullard, Mike Quinn, Steve McKinney, John Granato, Lance Zeirlein, Marc VanDeMeer, Chris Wragge, Ken Hoffman, and crews from the tv stations in town. We will be playing five or six songs from the CD and about 10 other songs. The band consists of myself and three guys from Big Bang (The Rockets Drummers). OK one of them is actually the Rox director of game ops but he's in charge of the drummers. All of the "rap" sounding stuff has been reworked to have kind of a limp bizkit/linkin park sound. The show is gonna kick ass and we have been working our butts off to make it good. Other than the Rockets game this is the coming out party for Pulltab. We will start playing the regular Houston Circuit in June as well as Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas as soon as I kind find a good enough booking guy for those areas. I really want Clutchcity to represent as you guys have been along for this ride with me form the beginning. Also keep your eyes peeled for a HUGE Houston Press interview and spread. It should be out in the one that hits the stands on 22nd. Thanks guys.
Oh yeah just ignore your fans in Beaumont . We actually have a pretty new and nice dowtown area that hosts music acts such as Pulltab. I won't be able to make the Rajun Cajun permformanc ebut hopefully, I'll be able to catch you in the future.
Thanks. I forgot about our huge following in Beaumont. Castor, we'll play a gig in your backyard. Only kidding. I am trying to find someone that does regional booking and The Beau would be in the region.
That would be awesome! And my backyard is free anytime you want it (my neighbors probably wouldn't like that idea). however if you end up at one of the downtown clubs that will give me a good excuse to talk my wife into attending. They have hosted lots of regional acts lately and even had some fairly big names. Good Luck with the concert. Just don't sing the Happy Birthday song until well after 9 . CK
Is this music that everyone knows? I was thinking about bringing some Hooter's chicks . Before I did, I wanted to make sure this stuff is not from well before their time.
Are you gonna walk them over from the one located 50 feet from the Ragin' Cajun??? Chance, the Cajun isn't exactly a large restaurant - where will all the assorted media tools fit?
Westheimer and Gessner, that's my neck of the woods. I'll try and be there, though I don't know how long I can stick around, you know, the Matrix will be open and everything.
Cool I look forward to seeing you guys. Introduce yourself. No Kevin is not out of the band he is just swamped with the Beatles Book and some other stuff he has going on. We will still be recording together but for this first run of gigs we are going sans 'The Master'. Just for you I am doing some Jovi. Oh and the media doesn't take up much space. They will probably set up behind the bar and angle it but that is just a guess. Also you guys watch Fox 26 News Friday morning. We are going to be playing on the helicopter pad to promote the gig and band. Check it out if you get up early enough. I think we are on from 6 until 9 or so.
Ill try and go if I haven't moved by then. I'll try and get my sister or someone to take me. Can you post the show date/time, and the site of the place you are playing at...so I can get some clue as to where it is.
From Thursdays Chronicle: Show sports songs about athletes here By KEN HOFFMAN Copyright 2003 Houston Chronicle Chance McClain, writer and performer of the unlikely worldwide hit the Yao Ming Song, will perform his first public concert Saturday night at the Ragin' Cajun restaurant, 9600 Westheimer. "We did the song one time on television, during halftime of a Rockets game," McClain said. "The game happened to be aired in China, so 300 million people saw us. But this will be the first time we do a whole concert." McClain and his band, Pulltab, will perform 16 songs about local sports figures, including a salute to Astro second baseman Jeff Kent's seductive mustache, and Air Bull, a musical tribute to the Rockets' gravity-stricken forward, Matt Bullard. The show starts at 8 p.m. Admission is free.
Thanks. The BBS has been an amazing sounding board to see what sucks and what doesn't. You guys are brutally honest sometimes and that really helps us decide what we should use and what we should discard.
i'm just hoping you'll do the Trailer Wheel and Frame song. "they got crap...." what's the next line?????? i can't make it out.
LOL Chance! I believe that is you on Fox 26 right now...you're crazy! Just kidding...only in the Rock & Roll Version of the Yao Ming song...I like the country version! It must have been very hard to sing outside in the weather...? You are so lucky!!! To be meeting Matt Lavine! Well good job!
I have not been to Ragin' Cajun before.. first of all is it all ages can get in... and secondly, is it a restaurant where you will be setting down and having to order food or what... and if so how are the prices..
