I thought it would be a good idea to get all of the free agent discussion going in one thread.

Considering we need another scorer/ creator to take pressure of tmac and yao, and we are going to have an offensively focused coach to replace JVG, a couple of names came to me as possibilites.

Jerry Stackouse and Grant Hill would both be excellent options to either bring off the bench as 6th man or to start at SF in place of Battier. Both have good size, are good mid range shooters and can still score. I don't know if we could afford either with the MLE, but both would fit nicely. I don't know if a team would give either guy a lot of money considering their age, and Grant Hill's injury concerns.

Rashard Lewis will probably get max $$ from a team, he is completely out of our range.

Trade for the rights to Luis Scola. San Antonio just wants a first round pick. 6'9 power forward, best player not in the NBA right now.

This guy would be amazing for us, former Euroleague MVP.

We gotta do what it takes to bring this guy in, he could eventually turn into big 3 instead of a big 2.
    check some of the moves.

    Chucky Atkins?

Stackhouse or Hill would be awesome, but could we lure them here?

No disrepsect to Scola, but I don't believe he will be able to contribute next season. He will need time to learn and adapt to NBA game, especially the physical natural part of the game.

He is a much more physical and better athlete and overall player than Fabrico Oberto and Walter Herrmann who he was teammates with. Both of them made quick adjustments to the NBA, i'd expect a much better athlete and more seasoned pro, yet younger than Oberto to be able to step in and contribute right away.

Be nice if we could land Stackhouse and draft Acie Law.

i'd rather have hill than stack. And run hill at the point..? at least for maybe 25 mpg.. and have Rafer spell him for the other 1/2 of the game..

Acie Law is predicted to be picked around 12-13. We need to move up. Which we cannot do unless we sacrifice Luther or something like that. Not a good idea.

But I am starting to think Stackhouse might not be impossible after all. He would start here and he would change from one choking team to another.

Dallas has some pretty bad contract/cap problems. They still owe Bradley 5 mil+ for the next 2 yrs, they have to pay Finley 18 mil next yr. He probably won't be able to return to Dallas. Bring in a Larry Brown or Rick Adelman and Houston is still a very attractive situation with t-mac + yao.

As far as Acie goes, it would be nice, the guy is pretty clutch, and he is a plus IQ guy, and he goes to the hole. Conley would be sweet as well, that guy blew past everybody in the tournament. I'd give up one dimensional Luther Head in a heartbeat to get a PG, but some experience is important for a team trying to win a title right now.

Scola is more like a younger JHo when he was hitting his shots.

If we can get Steve Francis, I think Head is expendable. I'm telling you right now...

I WOULD GIVE HEAD TO GET LAW!

    LOL

Law is definitely worth giving Head for.

Especially with SF3 in the mix.

Mike Conley reminds me a lot of Devin Harris.
