Overall my arms were packed at the end.. I felt the amount of weight I did was far far far to low but its ok since it was the first day back, next time I'll be bumping the weight up heavily to my standards. Do to the weight being kind of low I didn't push myself as much as I would have liked, the job was done though as my arms are sore and ripe today. Out of a 10 I grade today as a 7/10. Tomorrow (today) is back and I'm looking forward to it

Not disciplined enough to keep a log or anything, but I'm also trying to get into summer shape.

Since Christmas I've shed about 25 pounds. It helped that my jacked up hand got better and I could return to the gym, but my restricted diet is what has really been dropping the lbs.

I'm just getting back into shape and right now I'm just trying to lose weight.

Basically, I go the YMCA 3 times a week (next week I'm bumping it up to 4). I do the treadmill for a half hour. Right now I'm:

    walking 1/4 mile
    running 3/4 mile
    walking 1/4 mile
    running 3/4 mile
    walking 1/4 mile

My running pace is moderately slow right now (5.6 mph). My plan is to start extending my first running stretch until I can run 1.5 miles without stopping, then I'll start bumping up the speed.

Then I do the elliptical machine for a half hour. All total, I burn about 750 calories each session. I started about 3 weeks ago and I've lost 7 pounds (from 217 to 210).

I was working out consistently last year but got sick and had to stop for an extended period while I dealt with some health issues (I had 2 surgeries last summer). When I was working out, I got down to 200 but couldn't break that barrier. I suspect it's because I was also lifting weights then and the added muscle offset the fat I was burning. Right now, I just kind of want to get back down to my ideal (pre-college) weight of 185-190 before starting up again with the weights.

Weight is an irrelevant number. Lift weights. The fat will come off alot faster than doing cardio alone.

Unless you're attempting to get into a certain weight class for a wrestling tournament, I assume healthy living and less fat is your goal. Lift.

exactly. 200 lbs of muscle is a lot better than 185 lbs of fat.

Wow, people on THIS bbs taking up an interest in health/fitness? Is the apocolypse coming? What's next? Are you guys going to tell me you stopped eating fast food? If that happens, I'll know the end is near.

It's all perspective. You workout and eat disciplined and you see all the Fast Food threads and think the BBS is full of couch potatoes.

I AM a couch potato and I log on there is almost always at least one working out thread...so I think of the BBS as being loaded with a bunch of gym rats and workout nazis.

Really there are plenty of threads on both sides of the spectrum.

That is a lot of weight in a short period of time. I took about 1 1/2 years to shed 30 pounds.

Started working out three weeks ago. However, it wasn't until this week that I'm actually following a fitness and nutrition plan. I am going to try to follow my plan for at least six weeks. I am currently 180, I want to be around 170 loose some fat in my midsection and gain some lean muscle.

To supplement my fitness plan I am taking multi-vitamins and a protein shake. Hopefully I can stick with it, wish me luck.

That's about 3 pounds per week. Not too bad but 1-3 pounds per week is good anymore than that it isn't too great.

My diet revolves around foods that are high in fiber and protein.

Good job for those sticking to their plans.

For a short period of time I had a group of about 5 co-workers
that would go to the gym during lunch with me. For a few months
they were really dedicated but I went on vacation for a week and
they completely fell apart. Eating out, skipping the gym...and they never
    recovered.

    It's a big commitment.
