I was hearing rumors about the actual start time of the draft so I created this thread to let everyone know the facts: Where: Toyota Center When: 5:30 - 9:00 pm What: Draft coverage, Player and Alumni Autographs/Appearances, Locker Room tours, Live Music, SportsRadio 610 Live Broadcast, contests and games, free giveaways, $2 hotdogs and popcorn... and much more. I think this will be better than the 2002 draft because we don't know who we will pick, let alone when we pick... I also saw Tad Brown on the Channel 11 morning show say that they have over 7,000 people coming! You gotta register online to get in (rockets.com) There must be alot of anxious and curious Rockets fans. I will be one of them watching from the stands cheering on Roy or Gay or whomever they select. Today is the day we make a run for the Championship!
So it ends at 9? The draft will still be on ESPN until 1030 I'm a draft junkie....don't want to miss anything
If they change the name of it to "The Official DaDakota Gets To See The Rockets Choose Somebody Other Than JJ Redick Party" I'll go.
They are going to open doors at 5:30 pm. We are in for a surpriseas well. Rumor has it Coach Van Gundy will announce the surprise, which could be a number of things from what i've heard so far. I know what the surprise is ... I don't want to ruin it, but I'll just say don't get your hopes up about it being something like that.
Had to leave the Draft "party". It was horrific, Bill Worrell and Juwan Howard were lulling the crowd to sleep. There was barely any ESPN coverage at all, they would cut away to David Stern for the announcement then have Juwan Howard tell us the Rockets were going to get a solid player at the #8 pick. Best part was the booing after they announced the trade to Memphis. Half the people left.
