Please keep this to talk about the series. As usual no Play-by-Play, or general Astros talk. If you need play by play see one of the many other sites that have game casts. At least my sons team went 4-0 over the weekend. 5-3 Cesar Valdez, RHP (0-0, -.--) vs. Felipe Paulino, RHP (0-3, 5.40) 7:05 on FSH 5-4 Ian Kennedy, RHP (1-1, 4.45) vs. Roy Oswalt, RHP (2-3, 2.73) 7:05 on FSH 5-5 Rodrigo Lopez, RHP (1-1, 4.50) vs. Brett Myers, RHP (1-2, 3.82) 7:05 on FSH 5-6 Dan Haren, RHP (3-1, 4.50) vs. Wandy Rodriguez, LHP (1-3, 3.64) 7:05 on FSH
A couple of fun facts to prepare a super enthusiastic Astro fanbase for what is sure to be a riveting series between two of the NL powerhouses: 1. The Astros have scored the least runs in all of baseball (72) while the D-backs have given up the second most (155). 2. Arizona has scored exactly twice as many runs as us (144-72) having played only 1 extra game. FML! I have no idea who Cesar Valdez is but I fully expect him to look like Cy Young by the end of tonight's game. Drive safely on your way home from work this evening as you try to contain your excitement in anticipation of first pitch.
LWWL I too expect random Valdez guy to crush our lineup Hoping for a win in Game 2 on Oswalt's back Expecting a win in Game 3 by getting to Lopez
He wasn't very good at AAA. He only averaged 5.6K/9. He's been mediocre at best outside of A ball. I'm sure we'll find away to get some hits, but will we actually score those runs? The Astros have managed to maintain the lowest OBP & SLG in MLB. Thats a hard thing to do.
Over/Under on Astros runs scored in this series: 15.5 We are scoring exactly 3 runs per game so far this season but I'm factoring in the struggling D-back pitching, the fact that Berkman missed a bunch of games and that it's only a matter of time before Lee and Pence improve their production.
congratulations to your sons team castor. may he shield his young eyes when the Astro's come on throughout this season.
Wow, I guess this series will help settle the not-so-famous debate about whether crappy hitting can hit crappy pitching. And good lord our offense sucks ass. We have 3 starters with sub 4 ERA all with losing records... I
WWWL for me as well. That 1st game worries me because dude has no record or anything. And any game started by Haren vs Houston does not make me say "WIN". Peace. Go Stros!
Or use it as a tool for what not to do: Castor: "Son, you see that Feliz guy that keeps swinging at pitches a foot and a half out of the zone?" Castor jr: "Yea, pops." Castor: "Don't do that." Castor: "You see that tubby guy in LF jogging toward the ball?" Castor jr: "Yup." Castor: "Don't do that." Castor: "Now, you see that guy with white hair sitting in the first row behind home plate?" Castor jr: "Yup. That's the owner, right?" Castor: "It sure is, son. Well, he's proof that old dogs can learn new tricks. He's learning about the importance of a healthy farm system this season." and so on...
We hope. Richard Hidalgo was once eventually going to bust out of his slump in a matter of time. Lee should improve, but I'm not sure how much. Look at what has happened to David Ortiz.
LOL funny thing is I did not realize the run total was still only 72. We scored 60 runs in only 4 games over the weekend
Where is msn? Have they gotten so bad they've even scared him off? Edit: Looks like he hasn't posted since April 23rd.
