keep the .500ish ball going. Find a way to win at least 1 of these. Really hoping Musgrove brings his home game and shuts it down for 6
Hopefully Correa is healthy and back tonight, and hopefully we sweep the Cubs. Let's have some fun in Club Astros this weekend!!
As great as that team was, this team has some depth in all facets. I can't even imagine how much of a monster this offense would be if Schwarber was still healthy. A series like this one would fit him perfectly at DH.
They're going to get Bumgartnered', Kershaw'd or Scherzer'd in the playoffs. That Heyward deal will be an albatross. Cubs will always be the Cubs.
Possibly. Anything's possible in baseball and having the best record really hasn't been a good thing the last few years so I wouldn't be surprised. I think it's too early to judge Heyward. Only has a 1.1 WAR though which isn't good for that contract. But I'll wait till year's 2-3 to judge him for that contract. He will likely be put in a position to come up big in the postseason, that might also answer whether it was worth signing him. But overall so far I would say it hasn't been.
Is it really too early? He's been in the league for 7 years now... and his best OPS year is still his rookie season as a 20 year old. A LOT of the hype of his career came based on that season... yet he hasn't gotten better. I think its safe to say he is who he is now... with a lot more chances to get worse every year instead of better.
Well, I would've said if we got Heyward's bat of last year, the contract would've been worth it. Not expecting him to hit like other star OFs. He adds value defensively in a way that no other RF does. It'll always be looked at as an over payment -- that's generally how most FA signings end up being anyway. This season was probably his worst, or at least easily one of his worst. That's why I'm not ready to judge the entire contract on that. If he repeats this again, then it's fair to say it was a terrible signing. But you have to take chances as well. I wouldn't be mad at Theo for trying. It's worse to me if he hadn't gone after anyone and stood pat while some of these youngsters are emerging faster than anyone could've imagined.
