Cory Booker launches his presidential campaign with a call for America to ‘rise’ https://news.yahoo.com/cory-booker-launches-presidential-campaign-call-america-rise-115900507.html
for what it's worth, I actually kinda like Booker. I think he's a bit of a drama queen (well, more than just a bit), but he should liven this race up some. And his Newark background is worth something in my view. So I think this is a positive move.
I just caught the last several minutes of The Beat, with Ari Melber. It was on MSNBC around 5-5:30pm. He was interviewing Senator Cory Booker, apparently near the end of the interview, and he asked Booker several questions. Booker’s answers were funny, they came across as genuine, and I was surprised. Pleasantly surprised. I haven’t paid much attention to the guy as a presidential candidate, but while I’m far from endorsing the him, I’ll be paying more attention to Cory Booker in the future. I assume that the interview will be on YouTube or another outlet soon. As I said, I didn’t see the earlier part of Melber’s interview, but the last several minutes are well worth a watch, in my opinion. That could be true for the entire interview.
I have the complete opposite impression of him. He seems so staged to me. Not all of the time, but most of the time. It's interesting that black voters aren't rallying to him at all.
it's not that interesting IMO he is kind of corny and can seem calculated. Black voters need more than just being black.
Thanks to @Deckard this thread lurched forward to nearly double its original size! But... will it even make it to page 2?

I think it's a misnomer (and a disservice, though I know you didn't mean it negatively) that black voters push the black candidates. Black voters initially supported Clinton over Obama. Obama got his start with young white voters and, once he took off, black voters got excited. Hillary made that same mistake with women voters in 2008. As much as people yell about identity politics, the voters don't seem to line up that way (at least in Dem primaries). Right now, Biden is the "black voters"' top choice - not Kamala and not Booker. In Booker's case, he just doesn't have a lane. His story is not new and he's not particularly exciting or inspirational. He's just one of an army of generic Senators.
It's interesting BECAUSE of the constant push that black voters vote for black candidates. That makes it an interesting counter that the black candidates aren't doing well in these primaries with black voters (before a single vote is cast lol)
Just curious. Did any of you actually watch the last several minutes of the interview I mentioned? I won’t say what I found “funny and genuine” about it, because what’s the point? All I’ll do is give a little hint. Phillip K. Dick.
When your [Official] thread on the CF.net D&D can't even get to the second page after a year of campaigning, the writing is pretty much on the wall.
