Positive thoughts First game of the year... if the Colts are ever going to be caught off their game... this is it Home game... good crowd Everybody healthy... no preseason failboats (except Tate, whom we didn't have against the colts last year either) Negative thoughts First game of the year... Texans laid some serious turds the first 3 weeks last year It's peyton manning... he's never "rusty" No injuries for the colts, either... Prediction Colts 20 Texans Spoiler 21
WOW, I'm just so excited to see the game day threads again. This off-season felt longer than usual for some reason. Texans 27 colts 21
This Texans defense is going to dominate the League at some point. But I think it's asking a lot to control Indy out of the gate....esp. considering that we are missing Cushing and we have a couple of guys who need to get acclimated. The Texans are still going to give up the big play more often than they should for now and we need to do a better job of stopping the run. I see a high scoring affair ........ Hou 37 Indy 34
The Anchor of the Colts line is out - Jeff Saturday. IF you DLine cannot get to Peyton now . . .. Rocket River
We've come out flat the last two season openers. Can't afford that this year. One and oh. Texans 45 Colts 0 For the Texans fans in Austin, Dallas, San Antonio and elsewhere in the state, the game will be on your local CBS station. No VY love from the state capital this week. http://the506.com/sports/?tag=2010-week-1
Oh. My. Gawd. I am pumped. I think 90% of my talking this past week has been about football. I was telling someone earlier today, this is easily the most excited I have ever been for a football season. If Kubiak misses the playoffs in any of the next three years or so, he should be fired, barring any major injuries. I just finished painting my basement, hung a few Texans banners on the wall, my man cave is almost ready to go. I'm hoping to score a bigger screen around black Friday for it. Oh yeah, I am drinking the Texans kool-aid. If this team comes out flat, I think it's gonna deflate the entire city. Now, I don't live in Houston, but it seems like there's already some buzz going around about the team. Should this be a playoff season, and/or God forbid there be a home game, that whole city will go nuts.
I think it's worth noting that when the Texans have "come out flat" to start the season, those early season losses usually come at the hands of division winning playoff teams. So it's not like the cupcake squad is smacking them around, these were really good teams during their respective seasons when they kicked the Texans in the teeth to start the year.. Eagles, Colts, Titans, Steelers, Jets. etc. We cannot afford to lose to the Titans and Jaguars anymore. We need to sweep them both. There's no excuse to lose to those teams now.
There is a big difference between losing to a superior team and getting their sorry asses dragged up and down the field by the Jets last season. They did not even compete in the first game last season, there is NO excuse for that.
If the Jets didn't basically turn out to be the arguably the best team in the AFC, I'd agree with you. But they were simply dominating on defense and had the NFL's best running game. Hard for anyone to beat them. Nobody saw that truck coming when it hit them.
They were not the best team in the AFC, hell they had the same record as us. Texans played the best team in the NFL, the Colts, much harder than they did the Jets. They did not show up, plain and simple, it had nothing to do with how good or bad the Jets were. That loss was on Kubiak and company for not preparing for the game.
Yeah man. Jets #1 defense and #1 running game didn't have anything to do with that mudhole-stomping. Sure.
ignorance at its best If you don't think the Texans came to that game completely unprepared and overwhelmed, I'm not sure what you were watching.
No crap they were unprepared and overwhelmed. A #1 defense and #1 running game will do that to most teams. Especially when it comes out of freaking nowhere from the year before. I didn't say the Texans WERE prepared or did everything they could, etc. All I said was is that the Jets were a great team and probably would've kicked MOST teams asses week 1, not just the Texans. You are the one who is claiming absolutism here, not me. Give some credit where credit is due for once. The Texans didn't prepare for the first 3 games of the year last year, everybody knows that. But to claim the Jets weren't a good, if not GREAT, team? Please.
When did I claim they were not a good team? It wasn't just the defense or the rushing. Mark Sanchez, a rookie quarterback burned them for nearly 300 yards. A rookie quarterback who was not even very good last season. There was absolutely no excuse for that. We have no idea how other teams would have reacted to the Jets in week 1, all we know is that they played Houston and the Texans were embarrassed.
