What do the Cavs do to give themselves a realistic chance at competing against the Warriors (or an improved Western top team) should the Cavs reach the finals in 2016? Do they keep the roster and just hope for better health? Is there any hole they most urgently need to fill?
Resign KLove, get Kyrie healthy, bring back Thompson, JR, Iman. There's not much they can do other than keep everyone they have. Going to be a ridiculous high salary for them next year, far over the cap.
Pretty sure Tristan is going to want the max, and I wouldn't be surprised if somebody is willing to give it to him (or something awfully close to it). I think keeping him + Love might be difficult.
Health. A hobbled 80% Kyrie and Lebron nearly beat them. With a healthy Love and Kyrie, i feel the Cavs are better. You probably won't see the Warriors back in the final next year as we should be able to beat them provided we are at our full strength lol.
would be really funny if lebron just continues to sign one year contracts every year with player options and loses in the finals over and over. he might as well join a west team that way if he makes it he knows he has a much Much higher chance of actually winning.
Not jinxing. Golden State is too good and too lucky to jinx. With Kyrie out or diminished, the Cavs just have no chance.
Resign Delly for 4 per. Love opts in. Give TT 13 per and tell rich paul that he is not the gm. Jr opts in. Extend shump for 10 per. Find a taker for Haywood contract for something. Maybe to okc for lamb or another marginal prospect. Pay the tax and try again this time sucking more loves balls so he resigns next year. Hope that varejao comes back otherwise try to get him to retire.
Run an offense. This isolation-only stuff is excruciating and entirely dependent on LeBron being LeBron. Wonder why Curry gets so many open looks? It's because of the Warriors' system + his skill.
At the same time that LeBron Iso kept them in the game until overtime. LeBron iso's also kept Golden State out of transition. I think LeBron Iso in the post is fine as long as he's drawing fouls or scoring. LeBron iso's for step backs is a waste of a possession.
I don't disagree with you for now. LeBron is clearly the best player on the planet and can run isolation plays all he wants, oftentimes succeeding with them. But the dude is also 30 with a lot more miles on his engine than most. This reliance on the isolation is a short-term gambit, but time will catch up with him. The reliance on isolation plays got him 44 points last night. It also got him a terrible jump shot at the end of regulation with a chance to win the game in his hands.
THe warriors go 9 or 10 deep. Cleveland relies on lebron. Trying to run plays is not going to work if no one is making buckets. His jump shot is broken, he needs to hope it comes back.
