Diaz started 7-0 and got no extra playing time, now the teams success has a correlation to the starting catcher.
Dusty thinks they just win with Maldy in the lineup. Maldy has become like lucky underwear for Dusty. As long as the Astros stay on a hot streak he's not going to change Maldy/underwear.
I'm glad we squeeked out the win, but we easily could have lost this one with the lineup Dusty decided to run out there. Julks has become Dustys make a wish kid just like Dubon was last season. Hes gonna keep playing a lot as long as he's on the roster despite clearly better options with more upside. Diaz just has to eat his s**t sandwich.
If we were losing, it'd be that we need to keep Maldonado in to right the ship. It doesn't matter what is happening. We have the worst hitting catcher in baseball that makes up for it by being the worst defensive catcher in baseball.
Dusty is such a terrorist. Dusty obviously prefers veterans over rookies. In this instance, it’s hard to tell whether that bias has poisoned his thinking such that he actually believes what he said, or he’s simply spouting bullshit prextextually. It doesn’t really make a difference tbh.
I don't necessarily mind playing veterans, but Maldonado is on pace for his 3rd most GP of his career despite being the oldest of his career He had his 2nd most two seasons ago and his 4th most last year

I like Julks, but he’s long been struggling now. Brantley’s return probably would have facilitated Julks’ move back to AAA. So now we are stuck with Dusty moves. On another note, some of y'all are being way too picky about these wins, and it makes me think you don't watch much baseball. Take the W's when they come.
If we were in a must win game right now this is probably the lineup we would run out there. When Framber is starting I think DHing Altuve and starting Dubon at 2nd would probably be our best lineup. I love Altuve, but I think the defensive gulf between him and Dubon is significant.
