Why in the world would you DH Maldy and catch Vazquez @.666 when Gurriel and Tucker have .744 and .686?

Do you just live Vazquez that much?

I don’t care if we get shut out today. That’s a lineup that makes sense and I love it. Process over results.

Two things. Specifically, He has a higher OBP in the bottom third of the lineup. Even though this is base only on a handful of PAs, his slow start does NOT reflect his numbers this season or for his career. Give him PAs in the bottom of the BO.

Sorry, I don’t care what the splits say. You don’t bench Tucker against lefties.

Also, you are aware that Tucker has a lifetime .801 OPS against lefties?

My problem with your logic is you change sample sizes and specific split time frames whenever it fits your narrative. You’ll use a 40PA sample from this year for one guy, then use career splits for another, then focus on this year sample to prove another point.

this discussion is worthless. Even Crusty is not dumb enough to bench Tucker.

All for it. Another plus with Pena in 2 hole if he hits close to that 860 ops the rest of the year it will put him back in the Roy conversation and the frp that goes with it.

Yuli should only specially start when ground ball extraordinaire Framber Valdez is on the mound.

    That's it.

How the hell does he have negative defensive value?

Did he have a string of errors that I missed?

Range, or lack therof. Errors aren't the be all end all of defense.

It isn't as important for a 1B, but it's not meaningless either. Still a great picker though.

So now Yuli is missing plays because of range?

Who is this better 1st baseman that would equate to Everett?

It's funny that you bring up Everett because everybody would want him benched if played currently, Maldonado is the Everett equivalent and he gets the same treatment or worse than Yuli.

Yuli is just coming off a gold glove and now his defense is suspect?

    Because of range?

So you are saying Yuli has a lack of range?

Can you show what you are basing this on?

I don't think it's meaningless I just don't think he has a lack of range.

So you don't think they have stats that show the value of Yuli?

Why are you getting mad at me, I don't calculate defensive runs saved.

They are based off range and errors, he doesn't commit many errors.

He's coming off a batting title too, getting old sucks.

As for Everett we have numbers to back up his defensive greatness now, so there would be significantly less people whining now than there were back in 05. Whatever positive impact Maldy may have on pitchers is basically impossible to quantify in any real way.

    Mad?

How did you get me being mad from that?

I just asked questions, I have never heard anybody ever say Yuli has a lack of range and from the eye test I can't tell either who is the 1st baseman that has more range I would like to watch them to see the difference.

So now we have to quantify what Maldy does statistically?

Can you give me these 1st basemen who are ranked better than Yuli or provide a link, maybe I just don't know WTF I am talking about?

How does his being able to pick bad throws show in the advanced metrics?
