As always, no PBP in the thread. If you need that try one of the game cast sites. Keep discussion to this series. If it is not about this series it goes somewhere else. 9-7 Lucas Harrell, RHP vs. Homer Bailey, RHP 6:10 on FSH 9-8 Bud Norris, RHP vs. Bronson Arroyo, RHP 6:10 on FSH 9-9 Edgar Gonzalez, RHP vs. Johnny Cueto, RHP 12:10 on FSH
Bud Norris despite having an ERA over a run higher than last year, actually has a better WAR (0.6 in 2011 compared to 0.9 in 2012).
I am sure all of that increase is due to his stellar home performances. But really though, how can the same pitcher have a 1.90 at home and a 7.27 on the road? The Weather? His confidence level? The Park? Planetary alignments? What?
JD and Brownie are the only reasons this season has been bearable. Some of the stuff they say is so hilarious
the odds of that finish must have been 1-1000. Unbelievable. Chapman didn't have his normal velocity or movement.
Matt Dominguez needs to be our every day 3rd baseman. At his best offensively he probably ends up as Chris Johnson with fewer Ks and more BBs, but play great defense.
He has been out due to some ligament damage in his hand and only played tonight, after Altuve left, because Moore and Baird were unavailable). HE does need to play every day, unless they give Baird a few starts. You would think that Dominguez is the front runner for the 3B job next season barring any 3B acquisitions.
For anyone that still cares... Brett Dolan (@Astrosradio): Caros Lee has hit 3 homers for the Marlins since the trade in 208 at bats. Dominguez has 3 after the trade to Hous in 38 AB's.
I'm still shocked we were able to get anything for Lee. The average OPS for 3B is about .800, so if Dominguez can even keep his OPS around .750 with his great defense that would make him a capable big lead 3B who works very cheap for the next few years. He just barely turned 23, so he's still very young. On another note. Mickey Storey has looked good. 23 IP 25 K 2.74 ERA 0.96 WHIP
former Rice Owl Tony Cingrani made his MLB debut today. 3 IP, 5 Ks. Only blemish was Tyler Greene's HR
The bar is actually a lot lower. The average MLB 3rd basemen this year has a slash line of 261/322/414. With his defense if Dominguez could hit enough to give you the equivalent of Chris johnson of offense, he could be a very valuable player. We might of even got a better deal with lee rejecting the dodgers deal. Gould crashed the last month of the season and put up a 5.75 era for the season in A+. It was the cal league and he's still an ok prospect but I'd rather have Dominguez and rassmussen.
