Neris probably was, but I think he was being saved for a save situation. He did not pitch yesterday, but did pitch the two previous games.

Sucks right now, but no, this season doesn't feel different than previous

Correa out, Verlander in is a wash. Carlos had a .850 OPS last season and was worse than that in the postseason. Great defense though

There's not much difference between this team vs last year

    Stros remain serious contenders

The division is better though. The Angels and Mariners, the 2 main threats, made moves and got better. The Astros aren't good enough anymore imo to to assume they can flip that switch. I'm hoping they can weather this storm and stay close until they can improve the team somehow by the deadline (CF, more proven pitching outside of Verlander, etc.)

Would have been nice to avoid using one of your worst bullpen arms in one of the highest leverage points of the game.

McCullers is out, too. Altuve is hurt. Most of their lineup is hitting under .200.

What is Dusty saving Baez for? He could've pitched the 8th and did similar to what the minor leaguers did.

Isn't Lance returning soon? Altuve appears much better than it first looked. Bregman was hurt most of last season. He played but he was hurt

Do you think most those <.200 guys will remain .200 or finish +.250?

Lance was moved to the 60 DL. So he is probably out until June. He is throwing again, but that is a long wait.

Ok. I’m starting to get that lump in My throat. Kind of like the year the rox got Ty Lawson and you were just waiting for something that never came. If the baseball season were a game we are 2 games away from the first inning being over. That’s the good news. We still have 8 innings of season left. But it is also the bad news as it is a decent enough sample that you start to wonder what is going on. I know batters go through dry spells. But wow. This is one hell of a dry spell. 100’s. It is like we have a team of Charlie Kerfeld and Bob knepper’s batting with Maldanato being the Aurelio Lopez of the group batting. Maybe they should just throw their bodies at the ball. Get on base that way. Or take a bath in Brantley’s sweat. Get some holy water off a chicken and ring a silver bell 3 times. Something. This is painful. Especially give meatball Jake going next.

I like the optimism, but as pointed out earlier, the rest of the division is tougher. The Angels look like they finally have their act together. The Mariners last year were infamously "lucky" and overperformers. This year they come back with another year of experience, stronger chemistry, and the FO went out and got reinforcements.
As far as our team goes, I feel like Springer and Correa were the main leaders of the clubhouse, and now that both of them are gone, I would imagine the vibes feel a LOT different and lower energy. And while it's true that we had a similar start last year, we were not this anemic of an offense. We also had the stretch of about half the team on the COVID list. There is still plenty of time left to turn things around, but this year will be much tougher than last.

2 players and a pitcher need to be sent down to the minors. Also 2 releavers needs to be benched for next 6 to 7 games
