Pitching probables: 5-12 -- Linebrink (0-1, 4.00) vs. Torres (2-0, 3.34) 5-13 -- Redding (3-2, 3.13) vs. Suppan (4-3, 2.54) 5-14 -- Oswalt (2-4, 3.76) vs. D'Amico (2-4, 4.08) 5-15 -- Miller (1-4, 5.45) vs. Benson (4-4, 3.73) Fearless Prediction: The 'Stros win the series in 6 and will move on to play the Lakers in the next round
win the first 3 and lose the last one due to the bullpen. berkman starts producing bigtime in the series and hildagy keeps on producing. i expect a complete game from oswalt.
The pirates play much better in PNC park and the Astros don't do as well on the road. What gives? I want us to sweep this series because the likes of th Cubs and especially Cards will do the same. a 3-1 series victory in our favor is what I want at worst. My prediction 'Stros = 4 Pirates = 0
It would be a bloody shame if 'stros don't build on last week's success against Buccos. They need to win the 1st. And the second...
woo another good game vs the Buckets. I got home late and only caught the 7th -9th but man I think I saw the best part of the game. Hope the trend continues. CK
I'm actually starting to feel a little sorry for the Pirates. I hope they start winning some series once we leave town. Also, my brother told me last night that the Astros lead the league in 5-run innings. Haven't verified that anywhere, but if it's true, how about that?
did you guys see the stat about the astros outscoring their opponents like 54-13 in the 8th and 9th innings so far this year. that may not be it exactly..but close.
Yeah, I saw that MM. Also, the 'Stros pinch hitters are hitting over .300 as a group [edit: well, .290 after going 0-2 last night], and the 'Stros lead the league in ERA and BA from the 7th inning on. Once the rotation gets stabilized, we could be in for a fun year.
I just want to thank you for giving me somethign to do the last 30 minutes. I took the liberty of going back through the boxscores for the Astros. It seems they have scored 4 or more runs in 11 different innings(5 of those courtesy of the Buckets). It can be broken down to show that they scored 4 runs in 3 different innings, 5 runs in 5 different innings and 6 runs in three different innings. But the stat that I found even more surprising is that the Astros have given up 4 or more runs in only 7 innings. 4 runs 3 times, 5 runs twice, 6 once(First Cardinal series) and 7 once i(the opening series with Colorado).
WHY -- is Blum PH for Ensberg in a close game WHEN Morgan is hitting and the extra PH might be necessary later? What am I missing (and don't tell me righty - lefty match up)?
Interestingly enough, Ensberg is hitting RH pitching better than Blum although the sample size is small. Blum is also hitting right handers well. I suspect it was the lefty-righty matchup as well as the Astros feeling that Blum is the better fielder. That being said, I agree that Blum should have been saved for later if needed.
redding goin at it tonite.his record and gpa dont show hows been doin the last 2 games, coz he hasnt made it past the 5th inning in either. suppan struggled against the astros last time up too, but i think the pirates will win this one
Even more interesting, I was there for the 6 run inning we gave up to the cardinals AND the seven run inning we gave up to the Rockies. I prolly saw some 4 run innings too, but they don't stick in my mind. I think I'm bad luck.
