I want new hitting coaches. And the team needs to figure out the playoff home field disadvantage problem.
Yeah, I think the word you’re looking for is “leadership”. And, like it or not, you can add Maldonado to that list of “missing” if we’re talking that intangible
In Major League 2, manager Lou Brown brought back aging catcher Jake Taylor as a coach for the Indians. There is no reason the Astros can't do the same with Maldy. There's precedent.
The way Dubon “ran” out the last play was a microcosm of the series and, in many ways, the season. Glad it’s over. Hopefully the team plays with passion next year.
Spoiler George was the life of the party. Mr. Fun. Remember ‘Club Astros’? You don’t lose every homegrown star (except Altuve; and some other good players too) and then “Where’s the fun? Where’s the energy? Where’s the swag? Where’s the leadership?” Mr. WOOston himself Springer Correa Gurriel Keuchel Cole Greinke Morton McCullers(*still here) McHugh Harris Beltran Marwin Maldy Brantley Reddick Even guys who were here for a short time… The CongerBot Gattis McCann Rasmus Marisnick Kemp Chirinos
It will be sad that of the core four only Altuve will be left. It was a lot of fun while it lasted fellas. Bregman was always my least favorite of those four guys but that is just because his steady above average to great play wasn’t as much fun as everything Altube does, springer getting white hot and rampaging, or the promise of Correa just dripping HOF level talent. But, man was he reliably good (after April). Gonna miss him.
Conforto is an interesting guy. Hit much better away and was unexpectedly bad against righties this year. I didn't realize he will be 32 next year. Time flies! I'd guess he will try to cash in one last time but I can see him sitting on the FA market without crazy interest.
Didn't the Mariners extend him near of the season? He was a sneaky good pick up by them off the waiver wire.
