This is the first year in a long time that I have not felt the team is in it, or has a chance. Dang it. DD
Astros remind me of the Rangers of the A-Rod era. Lots of individual offensive talent, but no pitching. Astros need to get younger instead of settling for mediocre teams.
This is the first year since 2004 where they weren't in the middle of an improbable run. I hate the fact that Sept baseball will be meaningless to me this year.
Yea this was the exact thought when Wade came in and made all those changes but hoped with Roy around it wouldn't come to it but even with Wandy emerging it still hasn't helped. Interesting, that trading AROID began the rebuilding process and now not only do they have one of the best farm systems in baseball but a young/exciting team in contention at the ML level.
Our offense is actually slightly worse than our pitching if you consider runs scored and runs scored against. Regardless, both our offense and pitching are subpar. We have individually talented hitters and pitchers but, collectively, we're poor in both categories.
From Twitter: alysonfooter Arias placed on DL with strained hammy. Wilton Lopez recalled from Double A Corpus. Now this seems interesting but his numbers aren't great at AA so not sure if they just ran out of arms at AAA... http://www.baseballamerica.com/statistics/players/cards/?pl_id=82915
Wow, more 1st inning runs allowed likely looming here. We have to be among the league leaders, if not in the lead, in 1st inning runs allowed over the last month or two.
Bazardo looks awful. He has no command. Without checking, he must have thrown far more balls than strikes so far. When he isn't walking people, he's leaving meatballs over the plate. This is hard to watch.
I remember at least a few games this season where we were getting a beatdown and Matsui decided to hit worth a lick. Wuz up wit dat, yo? It's almost like Pence and those meaningless HRs he hit over the course of a few games a while back.
Smoltz with another excellent start under Dave Duncan's tutelage. This time it was against a real offense, too. 6 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 6 K.
I think my job has saved me from headaches and heartaches. I work typically till 9:30pm, and games are over or nearly over by that time my gf is probably watching tv. I was excited when they were playing good ball a month or so back. But MAN......this is nuts!
