Please keep this to talk about the series. As usual no Play-by-Play, or general Astros talk. If you need play by play see one of the many other sites that have game casts. 5-11 Brett Myers, RHP (1-2, 3.60) vs. Brad Penny, RHP (3-2, 1.99) 7:15 on FSH 5-12 Wandy Rodriguez, LHP (1-4, 4.59) vs. Kyle Lohse, RHP (0-2, 5.45) 7:15 on FSH 5-13 Bud Norris, RHP (1-4, 7.52) vs. Chris Carpenter, RHP (4-0, 2.80) 12:40 on FSH
Seeing Penny with a sub .200 ERA makes me laugh, dam you Dave Duncan dam you. I see us getting swept, nothing much to see here minus guys raising their trade value.
I wanted to go LWL as juicystream said, but Wandy has been nothing spectacular + poor offense. Sweep outta St. Louie
@richardjustice: Michael Bourn has been suspended 2 games and fined for making contact with Umpire Alfonso Marquez, #hounews
Our best player is suspended 2 games and we're playing maybe the best team in the league. Yea this should be fun LLL. If they hit more than 1 homerun in the series i'll be shocked.
Brian Bogusevic at AAA so far this season.. .342 avg 4 hrs 17 rbis .405 obp .931 ops Can we just release or send Sullivan down and let BB get a shot at that 4 or 5th outfield spot, just saying.
Because BB is only in his 2nd full year as an outfielder, they probably view him as a prospect with a potential future. Obviously he wouldn't get as much playing time up here.
If this is the case, I am fine with it but the dude is 26 so I am not so sure how they view him. Side note - Bourn is appealing so he will play.
Assuming he keeps it up through the end of the season, you can know management will be wishing the could move Lee to make room for him. It would give us plenty of speed in the OF.
We win one of the three, with a late rally. Lee has 2 HR's in the series. Lance gets one. But that's pretty much it for the offense.
For all the compliments being showered upon Keppinger early, the guy is proving why he's been mostly a situational hitter over the course of his career. I love the guy's plate discipline but on top of having very little power and being slower than molasses, he simply can't hit right-handed pitching. Check out his splits for this season and his career. 2010: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?n1=keppije01&year=&t=b#plato (500 point drop-off) Career: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?n1=keppije01&year=Career&t=b#plato If the splits were reversed, it would be one thing but if you can't hit RHP, you need to be primarily coming in as a pinch-hitter against LHP. I don't put any of this on Keppinger. If Matsui wasn't so horrible, Keppinger wouldn't be forced into a less than ideal role.
Mini-Clemens is still doing pretty good at CC... .270 avg 8 hrs 24 rbis .354 obp .559 slugging .913 ops He still strikesouts a ton but even with the Ks he has a decent obp.
Yea, and he can play a bunch of positions so add in the versatility factor. It didn't seem like they had high hopes for him but given the state of the organization, he may get a shot at some point. I see his best-case scenario as a solid bench player.
