Is my memory correct? It seems like Sheets has owned the Astros since he's been in the league. I'm starting to like these sweeps, but I'd be really happy with a series win.
I'll say 2 out of 3. Capuano gave us fits last year. Wandy needs to continue to show improvement. This game is going to be a toss up, but on the other hand if the bats continue to awaken from their earlier slumber a sweep is definitely not out of the realm of possibility. Good recovery by the Good guys after 1-5 kudos to Garner and the club. Memo, the Stros WILL be a team to be reckoned with in this division.
Yes, but not in the last couple of years. Capuano poses a greater challenge to our sweeping this series IMO than Sheets. Nonetheless, the Stros have to continue competing irregardless of who their facing.
Dictionary publishers have finally given in and begun to include this as a "word", when in fact it's a mispronunciation of a real word, or perhaps a haphazard combination of "irrespective" and "regardless". At any rate, it's a double-negative ("ir-" and "-less") and as such makes no sense. OK, that was my English usage post of the day.
Sheets is 9-8 with a 3.88 ERA in 20 games all-time against the Astros. Pretty good, but this isn't Roy Oswalt vs. Reds ownage (17-1, 2.54 ERA )
I said Id be happy with a spliut in the Cinn series.....so ill say I'd be thrilled w 2 outta 3 here. Again, tough pitching matchups for us...but if we keep scoring 5-8 runs per game, i like our chances. Roger - u watching???
Sheets is 9-8 with a 3.88 ERA against the Stros. He's 1-4 with an ERA around 6 over the past 2 seasons. Ben Sheets does not "own" the Astros. MoBerg may sit against Sheets (2-22, 2 HR, 0 BB, 9 K). Lamb, Lane, Berkman and, yes, Adam Everett (.366 BA in 41 ABs) all have an OPS of .900 or better against him.
After I posted, I thought I remembered the Astros getting the better of him last year. I think he even pitched one game hurt and ended up going on the DL after that game. But the 8-4 before the past two years is pretty respectable.
From foggy depths of my memory, the Astros used Sheets last years and the numbers confirm it Sheets and Lidge both appear to have lost it.
You're right about the DL game. To say Ben Sheets "owned" the Astros would have been very, very correct. He was 5-0 against them in '02/03.
Damn, first we go against Cincy's best...and now we face the best of the Brew crew. Game 1 is a toss up. Game 2, edge goes to the Brewers. Capuano scares me. Game 3, we win. Im going with... WLW.
