Talk about the series here. Please no PBP in this thread. Unless otherwise noted all games are on CSN-H (for about 40% I guess). 7-22 Tommy Milone, LHP vs. Dallas Keuchel, LHP 7:10 7-23 Jarrod Parker, RHP vs. Jarred Cosart, RHP 7:10 7-24 A.J. Griffin, RHP vs. To Be Announced 1:10
TBA... now meaning "the best available" or even "that bad Astro"... come on youngsters! Make the trip to Houston!
Can't wait to see Cosart pitch in his hometown for his team tomorrow night. I'm living vicariously through that moment!
pretty good crowds all weekend long. i was surprised. there were 38K fans there yesterday. they drew about 88K for the weekend. for a team putting out a really bad product for 3 consecutive years, that's a pretty good day at the gate.

Elmore in left? This team is having some difficulty bridging the gap... I mean you have to wonder sometimes what is going through Porter's mind: "Uh... I guess we can put Carter in left and Pena in at first? Oh... Pena is gone you say? Hmmm... well... what about Elmore? I mean he's a decent AAA middle infielder... that translates right?" I feel bad for the dude. I hope he can stay and get a fair shake with a legit roster when the time comes.
No doubt. The crowds will certainly diminish after school starts again. They almost always do, especially in markets where teams aren't competing for playoff spots. Or, you could be a Tampa fan where, no matter how well the team does, no one ever bothers to show up.
Not the first time Elmore has been in LF for us. Was it Luhnow who said he could play 5 positions? I'm just happy he is in the lineup. He's been hot lately.
He played part of 12 games in left in the minors and has logged 10 innings of his 120 in left for us. Not being a contrarian, but he just doesn't strike me as a guy that has a reason to be in left other than "someone has to". Then again, I am not in the front office and trust that they know what they are doing. All I think is that even a below average team probably wouldn't move him from the infield, much like a Kepp.
The Astros have like the 3rd worst attendance in MLB. I went to opening day because I always do and unless someone comes in town and wants to go I only have interest to see some of the new players when they come up or potentially a game in September that matters
The difference between Houston and Tampa is that Houston fans will come back to the team once they start doing well. Can't fault people for not wanting to spend MLB prices for a legitimate non-MLB team being fielded simply to finish last and get the #1 pick. But as soon as the team is respectable, chalk-full of young stars, the Astros will have no problem drawing fans to MMP. Its too fan friendly, its in the perfect part of the year, and there are enough long-time baseball fans here that understand when it's time to really get behind the team and start attending games. Tampa (or St. Pete) has had a good team for 6+ years, and still can't draw fans.
Future flexibility. A lot of utility guys play left. I don't think they think of him as an OF, just that he can play there.
