Lost in the excitement of this huge win was the performance of Josh James. Other than the one gopher ball to Calhoun he pitched a hell of a game. He is someone to keep an eye on. I have been watching the Astros for over 50 years and he has a little JR Richard and Don Wilson in him. Hope he gets a chance to make the team next year.
Tyler White...beyond clutch. Great win. Nice to see the bats finally light up. But jeez, is it me or has Altuve done nothing but strike out every time he bats with RISP the last week? Like every time...
I think he might be bothered by that HBP he took in the Angels series in Anaheim. I was at the game before when he was crushing it and went 3 for 4 with a home run and had just came off the Dl. I was not at the game where he got hit on the elbow but it looked pretty bad. I thought for sure he would miss some time and it may be affecting hit hitting. If we can get him and Correa and Springer back to being themselves hitting wise whether at home or away watch out. The rest of our team is much better than last year. Pitching and bench is much deeper.
Happy seeing Correa get that hit - solid contact. White continues to impress. James was decent all things considered and the bully held it down. Good win. Let's split tomorrow.
Update: Seattle leads now 6-1 in the 5th. Astros and U of H both won today. Great day for Houston sports fans.
I like that you thought a "likely 4 game sweep" after 2.5 games. The reason this team probably wins the division is that they (1) lead the division now and (2) are, by far, the best team in the division. Why on earth would you think the last month at home is the only relevant metric to look at? In the last 10 games, the Astros have gained an additional 2 games of separation against both of the teams chasing them despite 6 of their games being at home.
James’ changeup impressed me a lot. Looks like a credible pitch that could make him a legit SP prospect if he can improve his command. He already looks like a potentially elite arm out of the pen.
Josh James deserves to be on a postseason roster, electric stuff, similar to Gerrit Cole. Please no more Will Harris in middle relief, I am hoping Chris Devenski turns it around Postseason Josh James in the 7th, Hector Rondon 8th, Roberto Osuna 9th
Guess we can go ahead and cut Pressley? Kelvin Cato called and said you gotta pay James the max right now!
