Talk about the series here. Please no PBP in this thread. Unless otherwise noted all games are on CSN-H (for about 40% I guess). 9-13 Jason Vargas, LHP vs. Dallas Keuchel, LHP 7:10 9-14 Jered Weaver, RHP vs. Brett Oberholtzer, LHP 6:10 9-15 Jerome Williams, RHP vs. Paul Clemens, RHP 1:10
Keuchel and his 3.73 xFIP balling out there. I've noted before that Keuchel is ravaged by his 17% HR/FB ratio, which helps make his xFIP so low. I brought this up to Mike Fast on twitter once though, and he mentioned that they don't put much faith in HR/FB ratio's since, he says, they haven't found them very predictive. Luhnow mentioned once on a broadcast that they have their own internal statistics that they know are very predictive, so it's entirely possible that Keuchel comes up poorly in those despite showing so well on the fangraphs page. Anyway. Back to the game. I've just been encouraged by Keuchel's season.
#20. Kid is on fire. I don't mean to be a downer, and am not rooting against us, but it's officially about to be too close for comfort on the #1 pick front. We are too damn close to not take advantage of it dangling right in our faces at this point.
Eh, not as hard as ours. Other than the Tigers, they won't face another playoff team. We shut down Cosart, and may do the same with Jason Castro.
Seriously. It is a message board. People don't need to read or comment on everything. Ignore option is there for a reason.
That is the 2nd good start from Clemens, but also only 4 total Ks through 16.2IP as a starter. Going to be a tough battle for that 5th spot in the Spring. Cosart/Lyles/Oberholtzer/Peacock look to have a big advantage for the 1st 4 spots.
