Well it will be official Dec. 7 when David Stern visits Houston to make it official. It will be the 2006 All-Star Game!
I think this might be old news, but I'm guessing benzman is confirming it. Found this Chron article: http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/2686475
This was announced over the summer like nWo's link shows. I guess this just makes it "official" with Stern voicing it.
I read somewhere that NBA All-Star tickets are harder to get than SuperBowl Tickets (probably due to differences in stadium sizes). I think it will be almost impossible to find tickets to the actual game, but I would love to watch the All-Star Dunk Contest/3-Point Contest.
Really? in the last few years, its mostly empty seats but then again, they are probably high profile stars' seats in which they didnt care to attend.
I am glad it has been confirmed. Now we know that our alternate jersey will be released for the 2007-2008 season.
Sad note about this is the season ticket holders who shell out the money every year for this team and this arena, will get screwed when it comes to the all star game so this info is no great news to me because someone else will be sitting in my seat.
season ticket holders dont get the option, im not sure how many individual tickets actually go on sale, i think its somewhere in the 2000-3000 range. the rest of the seats are reserved for sponsors. it is for this reason that mark cuban said he will never bring an all-star game to dallas because the fans aren't able to attend.
Well, normal season-ticked holding fans aren't really able to attend super bowls, but I don't see cities turning that down. Also, there are probably more tickets for the fans for all-star saturday, then there are for the game. (and like the home run derby, all star saturday is probably going to be more fun than the game itself). Also, I remember attending the ASG in San Antoinio back in 96. Got in for about $100... and sat way up in the alamodome. Funny enough, I wouldn't be willing to spend that much today simply because of how less interesting the NBA is now. 1996: Hakeem, Jordan, Barkley, Drexler, Shaq, Ewing, Robinson, Kidd, Hill, Penny, (and the ugh section)... Pippen, Stockton, Malone. Of course, 2006 could be a different story than the current NBA... Lebron may have taken over the world by then.
