    Time to post predictions.

No Country For Old Men sweeps everything, or so I hope. It's the only movie I care about (having never seen There Will Be Blood). If something like Atonement wins best picture THERE WILL BE BLOOD!!

I predict No Country will garner Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Director for the Coen Bros (although Paul Thomas Anderson did a masterful job with There will be Blood), and Best Supporting Actor for Javier Bardem.

Daniel Day-Lewis will win Best Actor for TWBB.

Diablo Cody should win best original screenplay for Juno.

Do you think Ellen Page's acting is annoying?

I thought No Country For Old Men was a great movie up until the end. Man I hated the ending.

I did. It was cute to a point, but after awhile the smartass chick act wore thin on me. That's not to say she's not a good actress.

I don't care much about the Academy Awards - they miss most of the good stuff - but Lars and the Real Girl had some excellent writing, and was a really good movie. It's nominated for the screenwriting award, and it won't win, but it's an excellent movie.

Ryan Gosling should have been under consideration for best actor (if that sort of thing means anything about who did their role the best), but this movie didn't make as much money as the other movies did.

I've seen No country and it was awesome...best picture, probably...

There will be blood was alright, but daniel day lewis was amazing, so he'll probably win...

Juno was an amazing movie and Ellen (lead) should win, but probably won't...

You have to play the Queen of England to win the Best Actress award these days.

He was nominated for Half Nelson which probably didn't make as much money as Lars and the Real Girl.

I think Hal Holbrook has a legitimate chance to upset Javier Bardem and take home the Best Supporting Actor award.

What acting? She played herself through the whole film.

I've watched the Academy Awards for years and am a bigtime film fan.Over the years though, movies have been geared toward kids and special effects. It's all about the jack. The quality of the scripts have suffered as have the performances.
The political aspect really disgusts me too.
Case in point, when they gave Shakespeare In Love the nod over Saving Private Ryan. The war footage was the best ever...and it was a slap in the face to all that participated in D - Day.
I used to really get into the AA,but not anymore.

You really believe that Shakespeare in Love won over Saving Private Ryan due to politics?

I'm not saying that the correct choice was made, but I doubt the reasons were political.

Also, which Best Picture and Screenplay nominees have you seen this year?

A Thin Red Line was the better film.

I agree. It not winning was a slap in the face of all those who fought at Guadalcanal.

Traffic beating Gladiator was a slap in the face to all who fought in Germania.

Forest Gump beating Pulp Fiction and The Shawshank Redemption was a slap in the face to all who have taste.
