I know we're a year away from the 2007 draft but I'm psyched about next year's class.

Oden, Durant, Noah, McRoberts, Thaddeus Young, Yi JianLian, Brandan Wrigt, Splitter, etc...

    I can't wait. :)

if things don't get much better very fast we are gonna have lots of reasons to excited about the '07 draft.

this, by the way, is not a good thing.

Greg Oden blah blah blah. Great potential blah blah blah.

It should be a great draft class. I want to see what Oden can do next year at OSU before anointing him the next "Great One". For my tastes, he is way too unskilled for his bandwagon to be so heavy. Go ahead and blast me for it, but I still say he's a project at this point. May he prove me wrong because I want him to do very well.

I've never been sold on Noah as a great NBA prospect. If he's like his father, he won't completely dedicate himself to excellence in his sport. I predict he will do OK in the NBA, at times will play out of his mind, but won't ever come close to the hype.

I think Rox will again fall into the borderline of lottery.

The possibility that T-mac gets hurt again is 50%
The possibility that Yao has another injury is 50%. I really believe that Yao's 2nd injury is due to that he came back too soon from his toe surgery. This summer, he came back too soon again for the World Championship, thus he is going to subject to injury with a higher possibility.

Therefore, the possibility that both of T-mac and Yao will be healthy is 25%, and the possibility that at least one of them is injuried is 75%, enough to lead Rox to a non-playoff position.

idk if Wright is available, I thought he was 2008 draft?

I'd MUCH rather have the #1 in 08, OJ Mayo can be our PG of the future. Bill Walker too.

Hasn't Tiago Splitter been in the past 3 or 4 drafts, only to withdraw?

Personally I think we'll have a pretty late draft pick. I think we'll make the playoffs next year and draft in the 20's. In that case I'm looking at somebody like Tyler Hansbrough. Not a terrific athlete but just knows how to play and score. He's exactly the type who might fall in the draft but end up being one of the best players in the class.

It seems to me a young big man is crowned the next great one every 2-3 years. Of the recent ones, Shaq has proved he's one of the most dominant players ever, Duncan will have his place in history, Yao is on his way to greatness, but Kwame Brown and Kandiman have been flops so far. Greg Oden...we will see.

I agree that he is still somewhat of a project, but he is still unbelievably young. Like Lebron, Oden has an unbelievablly developed body, looks like he could come in a bang inside right away. I can't wait to see what a season at Ohio State will do for him.

From what I've seen, his offensive game is still pretty raw, but when you're 7-foot in h.s. there isn't a whole lot to do other than dunk the ball. Defensively, the guy looks like an absolute beast. He has good timing on his blocks and really gets up high on them.

One thing is for sure, he is definitely the best #1 overall prospect since Lebron. I would easily have taken Oden over Bogut and Bargnani.

I completely agree Oden's body is just incredible. He's a freak like LeBron. He is so unpolished and unskilled right now we just don't know how he will end up. If he puts in hard work on his offense, has good hands and plays like a warrior, he could be great. But he's too much of a project right now for me to anoint him anything other than the Big Question Mark.

You do realize that the second injury was to the OTHER foot.

Bill Walker will declare for next years draft too i can almost guarantee it and OJ Mayo after all the smoke clears might be able to do the same, I think both of them are good prospects but with the way college basketball is going to be this upcoming year... i'm looking forward to seeing how the teams and alot of the players pan out and how much the top prospect list gets shaken up.

I'm not sure I like Oden as much as some of you guys. Seems to lack in a few skills, more of an athletic blue collar type. JMO. 15/10 kind of guy in the nba, which isn't bad, but I'm not sure he's the next big thing.

i gotta agree with you 3p0....oden is a HUGE question mark to me right now..he is so raw and unpolished and as a seven footer the only thing that comes to mind is Michael O. :(
do i think Oden will be THAT bad? No
do i think Oden will be better Bogut? Maybe

he is somewhere in the middle....but dont be surprised if he has a less than stellar season at OSU (nothing to do with his wrist injury)

with that said i hope he succeeds......just enough to fall into the rockets lap

    i can dream.... :D

The sleeper of the draft. After one year of college after making the team as a true freshman walk-on. We'll get him in the 2nd round to replace Bob Sura. His shooting will force teams to single cover T-Mac. His trigger is quick, and his heart is twice the size of Texas.

 Maybe I have a different opinion of him (UNC bias :p ), but Hansbrough is one of the best young big guys in college. He isn't flashy, but he does everything well. When a freshman comes into the ACC and averages 19/8 in his first year, I don't normally think of that as a 20s draft pick. :)

EDIT: Besides, it wouldn't surprise me if he stays all four years.

I've read scouting reports and articles about Greg Oden but I've never seen him play. That being said, I find it interesting you guys are using words like 'raw' and 'unpolished' to describe him when the player I most often see him compared to is Tim Duncan. Tim Duncan, of course, is as polished and skilled a big man as you'll find, so it's certainly strange that you guys are saying that Greg Oden's weakness just happens to be Tim Duncan's greatest strength. I'll be interested in seeing him play at Ohio State so I can see for myself.

However, I tend to think even if his offense is terrible he'll still be a top 10 center in the league his rookie year. Everything I've read raves about his defense and he certainly has tools Ben Wallace could only dream of. Big Ben has proved a center doesn't have to have much in way of offensive skills these days to be considered a force.

    We'll see though!

a Few things, I heard OJ Mayo is considering this draft because there is a technicality that would let him in or something. I find it highly unlikely though, but would make it a blockbuster draft for the ages.

I'd salivate at the thought of Oden next to Yao, the biggest front court in the NBA, Injury would be the only obstacle to Dynasty.

All that being said i see us winning 50+ games this year. Tmac is the biggest injury threat, but with a better developed Yao he won't have to do soo much and Battier will alow him to not have to play the best player on D all night. Yao has been very durable until this year, and i think he will continue that pattern.

Which means a mid 20's pick i can't get that excited about at this point. From what NBAdraft.net shows me that I'd take Tiago Splitter who would be a steal.
