We have an office that prints a lot of documents from the computer and copies of documents. The problem is that our printer/copier is slow as molasses, so we're looking into getting one that will better fit our requirements. Does anyone know any good printer/copiers? It is for a small business, so nothing fancy. Used would be Ok, also. Just trying to find a fast, cheap copier/printer. Anyone?
Obviously, the cheaper, the better. We're seeing how much it would be to rent a low end, commercial unit right now. That's why I asked it here. I have no idea how much it would be. Considering that our current printer was $300, I would like to find a used commercial printer for $400-500. But that may be wishful thinking.
Split the job. Get a fast used printer on ebay. Get a fast used copier on ebay. You'll be happier with that than with a multifunction, and you'll save a ton on toner. If you go multifunction anyway - the good new HP laser units are about 400-500 on ebay. Just go to hps site and find the multifunction line. You'll want laser, not ink, of course. he problem with multifunction units is the duty cycle for the toner cartridge is MUCH smaller - 10,000 - 20,000 pages instead of 70,000 -100,000, depending on product. Now, since most of the cost of the toner is in the package, you will pay a lot more.
Ya gotta go laser....we are still using one of the old HP 4000N networked laser printer..and that thing is fast fast fast. I hate the multifunction units....go with two seperate units like pasox said...you willbe much happier in the long run.
We use the Xerox 220ST's here at work and they are awesome. They're multifunction print/copy/fax and very fast. The only problem is they retail for close to $20,000. Edit: Found one of them on ebay for only $399. Not sure how reliable that seller is though with only 91% positive feedback. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=25306&item=7519266199&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
I like the idea of a laser printer. We're also looking at copier companies that will rent you a unit, thinking that if we rent one, we won't have to worry about a used one breaking down.
Get a Dell(I think Lexmark makes them) or a lexmark. You can get a networked dell laser starting at around $250 and a full function for about $100 more. Now if your machine is going to be printing all the time. I would recommend spending the extra dough and getting a corporate printer that runs about $800.
Sorry Fatty, you're not gonna find a reliable NETWORK printer in your price range.. If you're going to get one at that price get ready to send it in to be repaired before the first year if you are printing at medium volumes.. Call Seamless Solutions in town and see what it would cost to lease/rent or buy one.. Savins are a good deal for a small company..
OK. I spotted this one on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7520091941&fromMakeTrack=true It has some problem recently with a "check fuser" light coming on. (I have no idea what that means), but there is no reserve, and it is within 10 miles of work. I'm thinking if I can get this for $50, it'd be worth it to just get it over here and see if it works.
WHOA!! that thing's a BOAT!! it's like an old caddy... Looks like a good stacker.. If you can get it for under 100.00 or so, why not give it a try.. make sure you can fit that thing through your office doors first...
