....involving the Rockets? With the trade deadline coming up, it seems that rumors are starting to pop up about other teams. Two of the more interesting ones are between Chicago/Minnesota & Toronto/Cleveland. However, it appears that in both instances, a third team might be needed. Could Houston be the third team in one of those rumors or some other future trade rumor?

In other words, are the Rockets open to making any more trades or, are they content to stand pat & let the current team grow together?

    Thanks in advance.

Here's the two links, with the reported players involved. Click on the links to read the whole story.

AUBURN HILLS, MICH. -- A suburban Chicago newspaper reported Saturday that the Timberwolves and the Bulls have discussed a trade that would swap Wally Szczerbiak, Joe Smith and a first-round draft pick for Jalen Rose, Marcus Fizer and Jamal Crawford.

And now an actual Carter trade rumour has emerged, involving Darius Miles and Zydrunas Ilgauskas of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Maybe no one should be all that surprised, given the way the past year and a half has gone for Carter and the Raptors.

And if that particular trade or something close to it does not come to fruition, there undoubtedly will be more rumours on the way. Carter is not an untouchable anymore, regardless of what anyone in the Raptors organization says for public consumption.

Not only isn't Grunwald going to deal his best player in a rumoured trade for a centre (Zydrunas Ilgauskas) who has missed 185 of his team's last 328 games and a kid (Darius Miles) who has done nothing of substance except jump to great heights, a trade of Carter for anyone in the league is a virtual impossibility. Because he's in the first year of a contract extension worth more than $10 million (all figures U.S.) this season, Carter comes under a base-year compensation salary cap rule, meaning Toronto could only deal him for someone making half his salary.

Would the Chicago/Minnesota trade even work? Wally-World Disturbiak just signed a contract extension.

Jalen Rose get traded AGAIN? I don't believe that one.
What scenarios would there be if Houston was involved in these trades?

There's a reason Jalen Rose keeps getting traded. Guess what, he needs the ball in his hands to make things happen and he like to shoot a lot. Sound familiar?

    PG-Crawford
    SG-Rose
    SF-Garnett
    PF-Fizer
    C-Nestrovich

    A pretty lethal lineup.

I wouldn't call that lethal. Good but not lethal!

I dunno. I've always wanted to see what Garnett could do if he had a team surrounding him. I mean, he's single handedly keeping the Wolves in the Western Conference playoff chase.

As far as trades go for the Rockets, my guess is Moochie is #1 on the chop block. I think our frontline is set-Posey has been the stud defender we've wanted, and hit a huge 3 last night to boot. We moved KT to relax a log jam, and with the way Cato is playing, you have to be able to significantly upgrade an area on our team to move him, and I'm not sure there's a significant area on the team we can significantly upgrade.

Personally, I look for 2 things going to the trade deadline:
a.) A backup PG/3rd guard that can do 2 of 3 things- defend, shoot, take care of the ball/pass well.
Candidates that may or may not be available:
Shammond Williams, Tyronn Lue, Jamaal Tinsley, Alvin Williams, Jon Barry, Earl Watson

b.) Start looking at alternative starting SG options to Mobley:
Guys to consider: Brent Barry, Mike Miller, possibly Alvin Williams
(note the type of player- good shooter with court vision/passing abilities, and can play within an offense. It's not time to move Mobley yet, but seeing what kind of value he has, and looking for options now isn't a bad idea.)
