Ok i was one of the guy's who really didint care about acquiring Odom. I always like to see that a team creates good chemistry fast. So now i find out that Mobley and Odom used to play college bal together, so bringing him on might not be such a bad idea. Her is the article that i found that show they were on the same team. Rhode Island helped stock NBA rosters as Cuttino Mobley, a 1998 second round draft pick, earned a starting guard slot with the Houston Rockets and Lamar Odom, the fourth pick of the 1999 draft, is a standout with the Los Angeles Clippers.
In actuality, while playing for the same college, Odom and Mobley never actually played together ont hat team due to suspension issues. Odom finally suited up the year after Mobley left (Mobley led that team to a fantastic tourney run btw, with, I beleive, Tyson Wheeler as his backcourt mate) and then left college after that one year of play. Nonetheless, Odom and Mobley are on record as being good friends and have, undoubtedly, played together before a number of times.
True.....he would be good for team chemistry, but Odom and The Cat didn't play together. Cat was already in the league when Odom signed as a freshman at Rhode Island. Good point though
Odom transferred to URI from UNLV (I think). I believe that he never played a game at UNLV before problems (maybe transcript issues). When you get right down to it, Odom is damn inexperienced! One year of NCAA ball and 3 years of pro ball with one of those being spent on the IR. His UPSIDE is tremendous.....
The year Odom sat out due to the transfer, him and Mobley use to play one on one all the time after practice.
