Who would do this? It is a bit of a stretch but is it really? Odom has been a mite disappointing. He has 2 strikes against him. He has "issues." Shouldn't he be relatively de-valued? Would you do it if offered? I don't think we can pull the trigger on this now, but as the draft nears the Clips might feel more eager to move Odom. If the Clips had 8, 12, and 15 they could work a deal similar to the Rockets deal last year when they plucked EG with the 7th pick in exchange for 3 first-round selections. How about 8, 12 and 15 to the Cavs for Andre Miller? Cleveland could use the infusiion of talent. They only drop 2 spots from 6. LA could use Miller. Fillers are always possible. Exchange Kandi and Mihm maybe. Would Kandi's and Odom's money approximate a good contract for Andre Miller?
Yeah, he's definitely de-valued and NBA teams should realize that. The same thing goes for McDyess. NBA teams should realize that the Nuggets are just trying to get rid of McDyess to get SOMETHING in return before he leaves them with nothing next offseason. Same thing with Francis trade. Memphis had their backs against the wall trying to get rid of Steve. Same with Lafrentz and Van Exel this season. Teams will settle for a lot less when they're trying to get rid of people. Having said that, I don't think there's anyway that the 15th alone would get Odom. I'm sure some other team could and would offer better than that.
i think anyone here would do that but krause isn't the gm for la so it won't happen. odom is devalued but the clips realize he's talented and teams still covet him, they won't just give him away.
When push comes to shove..... someone has to make a better offer! All kinds of things should happen theoretically.... and then they end up not happening.
Here in LA there is rumors of Odom for Miller staight up. I know many don't think Odom is valuable but you must realize that he is the Clipper's main star when healthy, not Brand. The team was/is built around him. Remember he is only 22 and would be a rookie next season if he was to have stayed in school, plus he hasn't even reached his potiental yet but still manages career stats of 16pts, 7rebs,5ast,1stl,1blk a game. His talent is so high he's not even close to showing what he can do. A 15th pick I seriously doubt would average close to Odom's numbers, if fact I seriously doubt any of the SF rookies next season average even close to his numbers. I bet almost anything that Odom would be 1-3pick this draft if he had stayed in school. The only reason they would trade Odom is because they're disperate for a point guard and it would have to be one that is a career starter type or one with potiental to be one. Other than that they will not trade him and keep him, but they have said they want to keep him. I seriously doubt they want to get rid of him so badly they would just trade him for a bench player that might not even play that was their 3 pick in the 1st round. Also they don't even want picks. But they might trade him for the 1st pick straight up which is what they have been rumored to offer.
The deal would not be Odom straight up for the 15th pick. Probably Thomas and someone else would have to be thrown in to make the salery work. Thomas instantly gives the Clipps a quality man off the bench for Brand that can play D and creat mismatch problems for other PFs on the offensive end with his quickness. Thomas is a quality player. The rumor I have heard is that LAC wants to aquire another 1st round pick to package with their other 2 number lottery picks an move up like Houston did last year and Odom is their trade bait. I don't know if Thomas, #15 pick and someone else would be enough to get Odom but in a deep draft like this one it is certainly as valuable as Mike Miller straight up. And if the Clipps really want another mid to lottery 1st round pick to package with their other two lottery picks then this is clearly the better deal.
The Clips need another big man and a backcourt player. I'd deal Moocie, KT and the #15 for Odom. To work it under the CBA, one scenerio would be to include Collier while getting back Sean Rooks and Harold Jamison.
Here's a possibility. If the Clips take Jared Jeffries at #12, then Rudy may be enticed to swap the #15 + KT for him. Any deal for Odom must include at least some degree of talent. It would be really neat if Caron Butler or Qyntel Woods falls to the Clips at #9. We might be able to deal #15 + Moochie + KT for the #8 + Sean Rooks.
Yes, the Clippers want Mo Taylor BADLY. They want him to start in place of Brand. When Mo played for the Clips, the franchise loved him. Ever since Mo left, the Clippers just haven't been the same. The Clippers want Mo back even more since he was injured all yaer. No offense, but you have to be on crack to think the Clips would take Mo Taylor back for anything. The Clips would reject an Earl Boykins for Mo Taylor deal.
You will have to throw in fillers to make the cap work. I don't know if LA wants MoT back. I like #1, #15, Taylor (6.5mil) for #8, #12, Brand(3.8mil), Odom(2.8mil) 6.694 mil total Then we could use the #8 for Nikoloz Tskitishvilli.
Again, there is no chance in hell the Clips would want Mo Taylor back. He was the ultimate cancer when he played for them. Also, that deal would be the biggest rip off against the Clips. They wouldn't trade Brand for our #1 straight up. Let's say that Brand does equal the #1 pick... You would then have the #15, and Mo for the #8, #12, AND Odom? The Clips should be contracted, if they agreed to a trade like that.
just wishful thinking. The #15 and Mo were just to make the cap work, like I said LAC probably wouldn't want MoT back, that's why it is just dreamcasting. You have any bright ideas?
Well, to get Owolokandi in a sign and trade, that would have to be after July 1 or whenever. Brand, Miles, and Richardson are probably considered untouchables. Maggette doesn't shoot well enough to be a SF/SG for us. The only real player that would be realistic is Odom. However, I'm not willing to trade the #1 and cap fillers, for Odom. I would trade our #15 and KT for Odom. But there is no chance in hell the Clippers would make that trade. There really aren't any "bright ideas".
Yes the above trade was bad, but no to the 2nd part. If all it took was Brand for the #1 plus filler the Clips would do it. Ming and JW are potential franchise guys, Brand is an outstanding player but surely will never be in Duncan or KG's league, or even be at the level of CWebb in his prime (about 1.5 years ago). That is one of the reasons he was traded for #2 pick in a weaker draft. I think Brand and #8 for like #1 and KT and filler would be pretty fair from both sides.
I think Houston might be able to get Odom with Thomas and the 15th pick, but it would have to involve another team since they already have Brand at power forward and multiple picks already. This would be the type of deal that I'd like to see. Houston gets Lamar Odom Dallas gets Kenny Thomas, Moochie and #15 pick LAC gets Nick Van Exel The Rockets get their small forward. Dallas gets a good power forward allowing Dirk to move back to small forward. They get a backup point guard to replace Van Exel and they can use the 15th pick to get a tough big man like Stoudemire or Hilario. The Clippers get the point guard/leader that they need.
