Odom's contract expires in 2001.The Clippers will pick up their 2001-02 team option, so he's locked till 2002. There should be few teams able to submit a maximum qualifying offer to him, and ... Question - Do u think the Clipps will be able to match that kind of contract, and if not .. Question 2 - Will they trade him during the 2001-02 season, and if they do ... Question 3 - Should a package of Fizer and perhaps Artest, be enough to take him away from them? ------------------ Can't love all of you ...
Hey tybrave....err....I mean Roy. Welcome back, I guess. I don't think the CLips will be able to hold on to Odom. Now, if the team gels this year, which I doubt, and gets some wins, maybe Odom would be willing to stay. Some time ago, I posted an article on Odom, and he stated it was very difficult being a Clipper and he felt sorry for the new guys coming in. Who knows. I doubt the Bulls will be able to draw Odom in. Going from the Clippers to the Bulls is a baby step in the right direction, but only a baby step. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

Roy, it's nice to have you here playing nice with all the other BBS posters, but please try to post in the right place, the NBA forum. When I saw the thread title, I was hoping you were going to talk Odom/Rockets and not Odom/Bulls. Anyway, I think he'll try the free agent market unless the Clips become a much better team and start contending for the playoffs over the next 2 years. ------------------ Too often, we lose sight of life's simple pleasures. IMHO if Miles develops, the Clips will let Odom go before they pay him his true value. Fizer & Artest or Fizer alone works in RealGM (after Dec 26). I am not sure if Fizer interests the Clips, but I am sure they don't want 2 players as they already have too many contracted players for their comfort level. I'd think Fizer and a future 1st would get some talk going b/c that way the Clips can keep replenishing the departing FA's with Lottery picks. Odom would be a perfect compliment to Brand and would take some pressure off Drew as he can play point forward. Bulls would be interesting with: 1) Drew / Crawford 2) Mercer / Benjamin 3) Odom / Artest 4) Brand / Ruffin 5) Miller / (Tarlac / Anstey) The Clips would be interesting: 1) Dooling / McInnis 2) Q / Maggette /Nesby 3) Miles / Nesby 4) Fizer / Strong 5) Kandi / Rooks / Kloss Talk about young teams! The Clips would lead the league in 1 stat for sure - turnovers!! ------------------ GATER [This message has been edited by GATER (edited October 16, 2000).]
Odom was a rookie last year (season 99-00) He will be a second year player this year (00-01) Rookie contract expires (01-02) Team option on 4th and 5th years (02-04) So he's a FA in 2004, NOT in 2002. Say hi to the sheep ------------------
