http://www.nba.com/blazers/news/Oden_to_undergo_exploratory_ar-236457-1218.html Oden to undergo exploratory arthroscopic knee surgery Portland Trail Blazers General Manager Kevin Pritchard announced today that rookie center Greg Oden will undergo exploratory arthroscopic knee surgery on Thursday after experiencing pain in his right knee. Trail Blazers team physician Dr. Don Roberts will perform the surgery at Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver, Wash. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) taken last week showed Oden may have some cartilage problems in the knee. A timetable for Oden’s return will be set following the arthroscopic surgery.
So Oden gonna miss the Charity game in China and a chance to face Yao? I think Oden just find some excuses not to be humilated by Yao!
Are you kidding? That exhibition game is nothing important, while a cartilage injury is very serious for a center.
if the mri doesn't reveal anything then this is what they do. it is basically what i will be doing when i have my 4th knee surgery. i know there is torn cartilage since i can feel it, but it might not be significant enough for the mri to reveal. also, they don't know whether or not they will have to do microfracture until they scope you. i hope oden's knee/injury problems will not be chronic but it certainly doesn't look good for his future.
wow i hope he doesnt miss any game time this would really hurt what looks to be a promising career to him and for my own selfish sakes kind of dampens the hype around our home opener if he doesnt play
Is it called "exploratory" to make it less serious? How about "road trip" surgery? or "odyssey" surgery? Or for the religious, "Pilgrimage Surgery"? What would you say if your doctor recommended "Exploratory Anal Fistula Surgery?"
Sounds like trouble to me... (is it tacky to refer others to your own recently posted blog article that is linked to in your sig? totally hypothetical...)
hate to say i told you so. why would you take a guy that possibly permanently injured his shooting hand, has back and knee issues, and has one leg longer than the other (which is probably cuasing his back / knee issues)? the nba loves 7 footers when they should love basketball players. is durrant really unworthy of the #1 pick because he's 2" shorter and couldn't bench press 185lbs? it just doesn't make much sence.
take my uninformed random speculation fwiw but I think it is pretty major if they have to do exploratory surgery. you're right it is 2007 and if they have to do this to see how bad his knee is then there is something very wrong. if they find any bald spots where cartilage is missing then he will be getting microfracture. that would be the main reason why I think they are doing this.
