http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2007/11/big_bad_oden.html http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3115030 I agree with McMillan, I think he should stay away from the heavy weights for now. He'll always have the ability to bulk up quickly with his freakish set of hormones.
That's insane. I hope this kid rebounds from his injury. It'll be a real shame if he is deprived of the chance to reach at greatness and we fans are deprived of the chance to watch him attempt to live up to his potential.
That is dumb to put on that much weight when your trying to come back from major knee surgery -- he needs to get some new advisers.
First, this is BS. Do they have any idea how much 30lbs of muscle is? I don't care what kind of freak athlete he is, you can't put on that much lean mass (especially just in the upper body) that quickly. Even steroids wouldn't do that. Second, that's the last thing the guy's knee needs. More weight and more strength imbalances. Is this article from China? LOL
I am sure with correct diet/steroids you could put on 30lbs of muscle, and oden is really young and he is gifted.
Anyone with any modicum of knowledge pertaining to bodybuilding knows that it is physically impossible to put on 30lbs of muscle that quickly, let alone soley in his upper body. What a joke. He may have put on 30 lbs, but I can guarantee you the vast majority of that amount isn't pure muscle as the "article" claims.
no kidding, there's no way he's put on 30 lbs of muscle since his injury. if he's put on that much weight this quickly i'd say possibly 10-15 lbs is muscle, if that. in the mean time i'll laugh at posts like the one above me who buy into this artificial hype.
Couldn't have said it better. But obviously it isn't all muscle and most of it will come off once he starts his cardio workouts
Big Whoop-de-doo! Kevin Garnett has the arms of a junior high school girl, and Greg Oden can't carry his jock strap.
wow he's really going to tear it up once they start awarding points for bench press. for some reason this upper body thing reminds me of Joe from family guy...
Some of you guys are cracking me up. If all it takes to be great in the NBA is muscles, half of WWF...no wait..ALL of the freaks would be in the NBA. There is more to basketball game....... And I am not even going to touch the part about 30lbs of muscle in JUST the upper body...
Kevin Willis - "Hello Oden. Let me be your personal trainer." Oden - "MMMmmmmm OK! You look buff!" Greg Oden next year.
Remember, this guy never worked out in college. His body fat is the same, and his hormones are off the chart.
30 pounds is easily achieved for a 7 foot tall guy. On a relative scale to you its probably 15 pounds. If he never even lifted before I'm guessing he has alot left to go. by the way I love this guys freaking commercial. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/3ScPbahF4Bw&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/3ScPbahF4Bw&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
