I've seen it a few times, the actual moment that they steal the money was when they were dressed like the swat team and Garcia tells them to leave, right? Where were the bags? Or did Garcia tell them to take the bags because they were rigged with a bomb?

Are they reallly? I'd love to see it. I would guess Julia Roberts would be #12?

They walked out with the bags, which I assume were SWAT equipment bags that they came in with.

Since the security tape was never real, the money never had to be put in bags beforehand.

ocean's 11 was a remake of a 1960's film of the same name.

there is no way they are making a sequel to it.

it is either a bad joke which I didnt get or a false rumor

my sister read it in the paper or in some entertainment magazine...

i'm well aware that ocean's 11 was a remake...that doesn't mean there can't be a sequel...geez, someone wrote a sequel to Gone with the freaking Wind!

I thought the ending to the original was better, by the way.

Clooney and Soderbergh have both mentioned the possibility of a sequel, though, as has been reported in Entertainment Weekly and on Access Hollywood and Entertainment Tonight. Whether they were serious about it (or whether the project will ever come to fruition) is another matter.

And certainly remakes can have sequels. The Fly was a remake and had a sequel. Father of the Bride was a remake and had a sequel.

    didn't mean to seem sarcastic.

to me, it doesnt seem practical.

the original story is 40 years old, which they had to adapt to fit modern times. writing an entirely new story to the franchise would be cumbersome.

besides, none of the actors or Soderbergh are attached to any sequel of Ocean's 11.

I try to keep up with the trade magazines. does your sister remember which one she read?

On April 22, 2002, Variety reported the following:

THERE ARE SEVERAL PROMINENT ENTRIES in the sequel game. One is a project being called "Ocean's Twelve," which Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures have quietly commissioned Ted Griffin to write. It was Griffin's script for "Ocean's Eleven" that gave enough edge and coolness to the stale Rat Pack original that it enticed Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney for producer Jerry Weintraub. Since the sequel's in its most nascent stages, there is no sign of whether Soderbergh would return as director, or which stars might come back.

So there has at least been some movement toward a sequel at Warner Bros.

I really liked the ending to the original.

One of the guys dies in the original allowing the others to escape. While trying to figure out how to get the money out of town (police set up roadblocks) they decide to put the money in the coffin of the guy who just died. Then they'll ship the body home and they'll dig him up and get the money. So they go to his wake/memorial and hear this weird noise and somebody tells him that it's him being cremated. Long story short, they pull of the heist but lose the money.

i've seen both...and i think this is one of the rare occasions where the remake was substantially better than the original.

The original was flawed only by the occasional corny one-liners.

Other than that, it was awesome. The remake was cool because it was so "hip" and had more high-tech stuff...But I loved all the twists in the original.

It's also hard to beat a soundtrack with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis junior (I'm not totally sure how to abbreviate that, so I spelled it out because of the spelling game)

More stuff on the Ocean's 11 sequel from Variety:

    Soderbergh, Clooney up for 'Ocean'
March shooting date set for all-star ensemble's sequel

    By MICHAEL FLEMING

Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures are eyeing a March 2004 start date for "Ocean's Twelve," with director Steven Soderbergh and star George Clooney are ready for encores.
Jerry Weintraub is back as producer, and the studio is looking to lock down Brad Pitt, while other regulars may return along with new additions. A holiday 2004 release date is being eyed.

The catalyst for its move toward the starting gate came when WB asked "Timeline" screenwriter George Nolfi to rewrite his script "Honor Among Thieves" screenplay with an "Ocean's Eleven" bent.

Warner originally bought "Honor Among Thieves" two years ago as a potential directing vehicle for John Woo, but the project stalled.

Tapping a pre-existing script for a sequel is not unprecedented. It happened on "Die Hard With a Vengeance," a film that was stuck until Fox tapped a script it owned called "Simon Says."

"Ocean's Twelve" could be the next jobs for both Soderbergh and Clooney. The Section Eight partners both vowed to take time off after doing several movies back to back, including Clooney's directing debut, "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" for Miramax.
