I just got through watching W, pretty interesting flick even if it's not 110% all real facts, all the time. I'll preface this by saying, I'm certainly no fan of what he's done during his two terms. However, putting politics aside I'd like to learn about much of the stuff the movie W presented only in more detail/depth/conversations/inside info. I know Ari Fletcher has a book out there, I was a little disappointed Colin Powell only had an autobiography instead of insight into the Bush Administration, and I would imagine there are others but I'd like a recommendation on a book that doesn't just spend it's time with slander and bull**** and has some sense of objectivity to it along with the criticism that probably many books out there have.

Yeah, he's always writing 8 books at a time, lol.

I'm contemplating so far State of Denial, Part III. Received pretty good reviews from Republicans and Democrats alike (well the later is obvious, but the former is always surprising and refreshing to see). Amazon has it as one of those bargain price books for $7, so that's a possibility. Keep any suggestions coming :)

Ari Fleischer's book is hagiography. If you're looking for first-hand accounts, Scott McClellan came out with a tell all. Seemed like McClellan was a fierce supporter of the president's uniter image (/he argues reality as Texas governor) and the man himself, but grew disenchanted with his policies while serving as deputy then press secretary. McClellan was the one hung out to dry in the Plame affair (he had his credibility tarnished when others lied to him and he repeated it to the media as gospel), so he has a few bones to pick as well as decent insider info to back them up.

As far as accounts of the war and its handling, Fiasco was the best I've read.

If you hold off a year or two you get to read W's own account, Decision Points : I can't wait.
