vis-a-vis a mindnumbing conversation this weekend with some small town Texas friends/acquaintences: 1. Obama is a Muslim 2. Obama does not wear a flag pin on his lapel/say pledge of allegiance 3. Obama sounds too similar to "Osama" 4. Terrorists will be more eager to attack us because Obama is Muslim ( ) 5. Obama is the antichrist as foretold in the book of revelations other than that it was a fantastic weekend.
A couple months ago my sister stated number 1 and number 4 to me as a matter of factly. She is a college educated high school math teacher. I was horrified.
I heard someone say this weekend "I'm not racist but white people watch out for white people and black people watch out for black people. As soon as he gets in he'll have Jesse Jackson in there and they will take everything from the whites and give it to the blacks" I was so dumfounded I didn't even know how to answer. I just said "What has Obama said or done that makes you feel like that?" --- the answer: "I just feel it's true and I have a right to my opinion"
Stuff like this is why I wanted Obama in the general election. We will learn about ourself as a country, good and bad.
When the guy's brain has been polluted by anti-white, anti-American influences for the last 20 years, people are right to have objections. His own wife isn't proud of her country -- that should tell you something about the information both he and his wife have been exposed to. It scares me.
Actually, Obama's race, name or ethnicity does not matter to me in the least. What I do care about is what he will DO, and what he has already made clear: raise taxes. A lot. I don't know about any of the rest of you, but I would much rather see the government start cutting the fat instead of taking more out of my family's pockets. How do you guys feel about that? Are you fellows happy about having to pay much higher taxes? I am not trying to be glib here, it's a serious question. The media completely ignores it, and nobody talks about it, but it is a guaranteed part of his agenda.
These are my favorite. On #2, I would venture to guess 99% of the people who make the flag pin argument aren't wearing flag pins at the time themselves. I recommend asking them "does that mean you're not patriotic either?" #5 is my favorite though. If he's the Anti-Christ and it's foretold in the Book of Revelations, why fight it? It's supposed to happen - it's part of God's plan. It's part of the process for Christians to get re-connected with God. That's a good thing, no? It's the same reason I never understood why some Christians hated Jews for crucifying Jesus. Wasn't that necessary for them to be saved? Wasn't that what Jesus was here for in the first place?
that's cute. wtf do you mean the "media completely ignores it"??? i hear it all the damn time. and no, i don't care for his economic policy one bit... so what's your point? the guy is a liberal yet you act like this is some sort of giant conspiracy. now explain to me how this has anything to do with the fact that at the end of the day, prejudices almost always trump logic?
College educated and intelligent are two very different things. I also can't figure out how some people can wail on Obama for the Wright fiasco and then turn around and call him Muslim.
