....and the crowd gave him a standing ovation. He went on to say that Thomas Jefferson was a pedophile. Barack Obama chose to attend this man's church and listen to his message for 20 years. Unsound judgement.

Jeremiah Wright Sounds Off At Eulogy for Chicago Judge
    by FOXNews.com
    Sunday, April 13, 2008

Rev. Jeremiah Wright was briefly back in the pulpit on Saturday where he blasted America’s founding fathers for slavery and white supremacy and received standing ovations for attacking FOX News for covering his anti-American sermons.

Delivering a eulogy for a late congregant of Trinity United Church of Christ — former appellate judge R. Eugene Pincham — Barack Obama’s former pastor said America’s mistreatment of blacks is the result of the founding fathers, who “planted slavery and white supremacy in the DNA of this republic.”

First reported by The Chicago Sun Times, Wright said that Thomas Jefferson, who partook in “pedophilia,” would also be considered unpatriotic these days because he wrote, “God would punish America for the sin of slavery.” He also quoted Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who said that the U.S. has a “congenital birth defect.”

Speaking of the seven lessons Pincham taught him, Wright said the judge’s faith “was not the jingoistic, chauvinistic ‘you’re either with us or against us’ demonizing kind of faith.”

“FOX News can’t understand that,” Wright said to rousing cheers and applause. “[Bill] O’Reilly will never get that. Sean Hannity’s stupid fantasy will keep him forever stuck on stupid when it comes to comprehending how you can love a brother who does not believe what you believe. [Pincham’s] faith was a faith in a God who loved the whole world not just one country or one creed.”

    Stupid, guilt-ridden, America-hating libpigs!

What a radical notion. A God that loves the whole world? What a racist abomination he is, a disgrace to both Christianity and people of color.

Honestly, props to Faux news for quoting THREE phrases from the entire sermon this time. Two of them are spot on. Wonder what happens if people start reading the entire transcripts? WHOA. Too bad Wright isn't running for president, rendering this tangential at best. Oh well. Can we start another thread about Obama's most controversial sentence of the last three months? The one sentence out of some 3 billion he's spoken recently? That'd be great. TIA.

first of all the thread title is misleading. Wright is not his spiritual adviser anymore.

His former spiritual adviser is right about a lot of that. Many of the founding fathers were racist, white supremacists and slave owners.

Let us be perfectly clear. There is only one reason why Wright is Obama's former spiritual advisor, and that is because Wright's comments came to light and it was no longer politically advantageous to keep him on. It has nothing to do with whether or not Obama agrees with the message. Wright became controversial, so Obama dropped him like a bad habit.

Also, if white supremacy is "in the DNA of this republic," then what Wright is really saying is that the situation is hopeless. Regardless of what one does, you cannot change your DNA. So Wright is either advocating giving up (bad idea), or destroying this republic and starting over (ie revolution).

    Which is it?

If I heard a single racist sermon like that, I'd have serious thoughts about ever going back. If I heard a second racist, hate-filled sermon, I'd never go back. Never. For Obama to have sat there, implicitly endorsing these thoughts, for 20 years, is more than enough to disqualify him from a serious candidacy in this election.

The problem for the libs is that he is all but ensured to get the nomination. It's too late to go back, without rioting in the streets from Obama supporters. Man it sucks to be a lib these days. These problems are going to be HUGE in the General.

Are you having a glass of Merlot while you type this from your Upper West Side condo?

I'm sure those poor, bitter, conservative, white fundamentalists are appreciative that basso has their back.

You can change DNA... it just takes generations to do so. Otherwise, Darwin would have had nothing to do.

BY some accounts, Jefferson's started his relationship with Sally Hemings when she was 14. This would indeed make him a pedophile under most current laws.

This line is very much hurting Obama, and rightfully so.

President McCain's path just gets easier...

Maybe that is why Wright is his former adviser. It doesn't matter. My statement was still accurate.

Wright is correct that the DNA of the republic was awash in white supremacy. Thus we have written into our founding document that blacks would count as 3/5 of a person. Even that was a compromise because many didn't want them to count as any type of person at all.

Luckily the DNA has changed over the years, and we can continue to change it as need be.

Also let me point out that this is nothing that Obama said. Wright is no longer affiliated with his campaign can say whatever he wants even if it's accurate, and it doesn't mean Obama said any of it. He didn't.

We are all free not to vote for Wright as president. In fact I suggest we don't for Wright as President.

I wonder how many people will be changing their vote in the general this year. I suspect many people that either crossed party lines or Independents during the primaries will vote against Obama in the general.

So Obama has to agree with the politics of his pastor? That's funny; a couple months ago he was only pretending to believe in Jesus.

His own pastor Rev. Wright is pretending to believe in Jesus.

But Wright was a former Muslim and black nationalist who had studied at Howard and Chicago, and Trinity's guiding principles--what the church calls the "Black Value System"--included a "Disavowal of the Pursuit of 'Middleclassness.'"

Why does it matter if he was a former Muslim, or is still a Muslim? Is it a problem for you if someone was or is a Muslim?

The pastor was also a Marine who honorably served this nation.

Being a muslim isn't the problem. Being a radical muslim who preaches hate for the white man like his buddy Farrakahn IS!

Quick- who is running for President? Can you even remember at this point, having gone so far off topic?

Something's seriously screwed up when we're talking about Obama's pastor's youth, while noone seems to care about McCain's ties to this creep.
