I guess 20 years is the going rate these days for helping al Qaeda plot and execute the murder of 12 Americans and hundreds of others....

    ------------------------

Former Guantanamo Bay detainee Ahmed Ghailani was found not guilty on all but one charge Wednesday by a civilian jury in New York, in a case with ramifications for President Obama's policy toward Guantanamo and civilian trials for terror suspects.

Ghailani was acquitted in federal court on 224 murder charges in connection with the 1998 bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. He was found guilty for only one charge, conspiracy to destroy government buildings.

Interesting you didn't see fit to quote this part of the story:
And Fox being Fox, they saw fit to leave out a part of the story as well. Here's the NYTimes:

Seems like the witness would have had a profound effect on the trial, but since the guy provided the info under torture, it was rightly not admissible.

So, in reality, this is W's acquittal, not Obama's... though if he keeps up the current policy, we may unfortunately see some in the future.

Glad we hold ourselves to such a high standard to go through due process and serve proper justice no matter the circumstances. Score one for American ideals and civilized society.

The judge himself recognized the potential damage of excluding the witness when he said in his ruling that Mr. Ghailani’s status of “enemy combatant” probably would permit his detention as something akin “to a prisoner of war until hostilities between the United States and Al Qaeda and the Taliban end, even if he were found not guilty.”

    Sounds good to me.

so in spite of the Bush Administration's illegal torture, the guy is still doing 20 to life.

The only shame is that the illegal torturers won't be in the cell next door.

It’s pathetic that some people here are more concerned with making the president look bad as apposed to following the laws of our country.
