Yet another difference between Bush and Obama. Obama is clearly light years ahead of Bush on the issue, even though he still has a ways to go. The great thing about this is that it over rules part of the stupid bit from the Bush guy that basso tried to blame on Obama.
I thinks this should almost be a non issue because I can't see it affecting that many people. I'm sure they'll be more heterosexual domestic partners benefiting than gays.
Obama had to do something fast to reverse the mounting anger directed towards him from the gay community. This was the card that he was able to play. I can't speak for them, but what I've read suggest that gays don't like Snobama because of his DOMA position, his refusal to take part in the gay day parades, and his personal discomfort around gays. Living around Michelle long enough, I'm sure he's tempted to be gay himself. Heck, maybe he is gay and Larry Sinclair's story is true.

Obama's position on DOMA is the same as gay rights activists. He strongly disagrees with it. That isn't changed by the fact that a Bush hold over put out that crap that basso tried to stick Obama with. This flies directly in the face of that.
The President needs to suspend "don't ask, don't tell" in the military. Thanks to Sam Nunn pushing through a federal law instituting it, Obama can't simply get rid of it with an executive order (he could before the law was passed). President Obama can, however, suspend the implimentation of "don't ask, don't tell" and he should, right away. It's not a permanent fix, but it is, as my mother would say, better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
"Several gay donors withdrew their sponsorship of a Democratic National Committee fund-raising event next week, where Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. is scheduled to speak." -Mmmkay..That will show em, maybe they could lose precious funds and it will help the GOP so they will listen Mmmkay...
The_Conquistador is not gay. My wife and my son, Ramón, can confirm that. No man gives off the musky scent of heterosexual sex appeal quite like The_Conquistador.
