o rly owl

I can't tell you where it originated but I'd assume it's simply a shorthand way of saying, "Oh, really?" I couldn't tell you if there's anything else behind it though.

 

I don't know, but it became REALLY big on genmay about a month ago. I wouldn't be surprised if it started there . . .

I saw this a couple of months ago over at GAF, but I think it started at the somethingawful.com forums. It has died down a bit, but I still love them. Not really sure what the story behind it is. Here's one of my favorites:

I believe the whole "O RLY?" thing started before the owls and with some other pictures, although I never saw them until these owls. Basically, someone would post something like "Tmac doesn't have a chance to get MVP because he doesn't make his teammates better," which would then be followed by an "O RLY?" pic. That post would occasionally be followed up with a pic of this owl:

That is the most i've ever laughed at a single pic (slideshow ) EVER.

now i look crazy since im in the campus library.. but oh was it worth it.

 

I'm not sure what to tell you. It works fine for me (right click->save image as...). I'm not sure how much it would help, but I got it from page 5 of the first link I gave in my last post (the GAF thread).
