The tweenbot, a cardboard-bodied, cheerful little bugger, is equipped with a flag stating its intended destination. Since it can only move forward, it depends on the kindness of strangers to guide it and remove obstacles.

Tisch School of the Arts student Kacie Kinzer created the tweenbot as a kind of art experiment. In her words:

In New York City, we might expect the smiley-faced tweenbot to be stabbed, stomped, mugged, or covered in graffiti, but every single one of the journeys was completed without a hitch. Pedestrians would stop and help the little guy when he was trapped against a curb or headed into traffic, and point him in the right direction.

I don't know about you guys, but I like to think this project says more about the state of our nation than that stupid negative-nancy stock market. It's just about the warmest, fuzziest thing I've seen since the last Muppet movie.

They obviously avoided any high school kids. A live goldfish in a blender art experiment ended with the help of high schoolers.

im surprised no one alerted the cops. after living through 9/11, i would have thought this thing was a bomb and im sure many other new yorkers would have thought the same. and i doubt the park enforcement officer would have helped the robot without first inspecting it or being informed about its intentions by the art student. and judging from the video, the robot didn't even make it 50% of the way to its destination.

i would like to see this experiment done on wall street at 830AM and see how long the robot lasts before it gets kicked, trampled or blown up by the police.

You stole my words. I would have stayed the F**K away if I saw it.

They should put a turban and beard on it next time. I'd like to compare the reactions to this video. (just a joke)

Why in the heck would you think it was a bomb? Last time I checked 9/11 occurred by planes hitting buildings, not movable objects with smiley faces on them. I guess if you see an envelope on the floor, you automatically think anthrax and go and run for cover. You are too paranoid.

Not every terrorist attack is identical.

An envelope on the floor is hardly as unusual as a weird ass robot scooting around unattended in the middle of a park.

Ask yourself this: Would you want your 2-year-old kid (assuming you had one) to go play with that robot if you had no knowledge of what was actually going on?

    My thoughts exactly.

I'm not gonna lie... I probably would've stolen it. I really want one now.

man, the logic of people these days. Seriously, how the **** is a tiny ass **** like that a bomb. Sure, go pull info out of your ass about the latest micro-bomb technology but where the **** is everybodys common sense.

I actually think the guy in the background smoking the cigarette with the fro is more worrisome than the smiley robot. Who knows what he has under his jacket, actually, that "cigarette" might be an incendiary device.

That robot is riding around in Washington Square Park, i'd be more worried about the damn construction that has been ongoing for the last year there, I think its time they finish renovating the park already!

As cute as it is interesting.

But yeah, put it in the subway at rush hour and it's dead meat.
